There's not much in Tarbet, apart from the Hotel and a good...
There's not much in Tarbet, apart from the Hotel and a good restaurant, but its convenient for the Loch, and its on a junction of the main roads, so there's good access to other parts. There is a bus stop that the long distance bus services stop at. Loch boat trips depart from the pier. The Tarbet Hotel is a great place to stay. One could take a nice wander around Tarbet but a car is needed to explore the lakes, castles and countryside around and about. It's an ideal location, to discover and walk and the views are wonderful; the air is so clean. The hotel proved a convenient location on the A.82 by Loch Lomond. The breakfast offered a variety of cooked and cold dishes. However, the hotel was generally 'tired' and there were clearly not enough staff on duty both for evening dinner and especially at breakfast time when a single 'stressed' young lady was tsasked with table allocation, serving and clearing tables (although main food was self-service).Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 8.0
I was only stopping in Tarbet breaking my journey from Oban.

The reservation system was difficult and it was very...
The reservation system was difficult and it was very difficult to get the hotel itself to communicate and understand. I had to enlist the corporate office in order to work it out. The front desk clerk at check in is rude. The young girl bartender is untrained. The food staff is unprofessional and disengaged. The evening bar music penetrates the room - making it difficult to sleep. Not all amenities were in the room and had to be asked for. The coffee maker didn't work. The building is beautiful, but without friendly staff it has lost all ambiance. The main selling point for this hotel is the value they clearly have for their staff. According to the bar menu, they pay their staff a real living wage and the way the economy is right now that was really wonderful to see. The breakfast buffet absolutely lovely and lovely food in the restaurant too. Great rooms which were clean, spacious and comfortable with tea making facilities.
