Fieldways is an Edwardian mansion with most of the beautiful original features and some furniture still intact. The person responsible for it was William Richard Brown - a man of means and local renown - who funded the lovely town hall in Trowbridge. Fieldways has a wonderful old world ambience, clean, comfortable rooms with many of the communal areas under used and large parts of the building, not used at all, which is a shame. Do go to see it and enjoy a peaceful stay there before some shark developers grab and destroy the beauty of it forever as they always do. Really great guided tour of Parade House and the Georgian architecture around the town. Very interesting museum, lovely Christmas Tree display in St James's church. #1 Coffee shop was very nice too. Sorry, I didn't see much of Trowbridge as I was going to a wedding at Faulkland... However, getting through traffic in Trowbridge was not easy, either on Friday pm or Saturday morning!
