Our stay was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and Ed our host was fantastic. Our room, Lover Buck Lodge was fantastic. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower and plenty of clean towels daily. The bed was the low type and very comfortable. There was a room heater, fan, hairdryer, iron and board. The breakfast hamper was full of items and sat on top of a mini fridge containing bottled milk and water. There was also a coffee maker and kettle with plenty of teas, coffees, sugar and biscuits. The wooden flooring added to the room and there was a small built in wardrobe plus a drawer unit. Due to the opening hours, we could only eat at the Lower Buck on one evening of ours 3 night stay. The food was superb from a good menu and the bar was fully stocked with spirits and ales All in all our stay receives 10/10. We shall definitely be back.

Disappointing. The shops were well overpriced for the location. Didn't see any customers in them, either going in or out. A bit over rated Traffic in the centre was exceptionally busy for the size of the area.

A lovely, peaceful and sacred place in beautiful surroundings. A clean and comfortable room and friendly staff - especially Fiona. Do not expect hotel service as this is a retreat centre. We attended the chapel morning prayers and soaked in the spiritual heritage of the abbey.

Tranquil, historic abbey , much in ruins but surrounded by gardens and set alongside the River Calder. Reception rooms spacious and historic - you may well rub shoulders with senior clerics who use this location for retreats and workshops

I did not realise that i was staying in a working abbey.

I did not realise that i was staying in a working abbey. This was my fault. Although the wording was Whalley Abbey Hotel My husband said he heard singing at around 6.30 am or was he dreaming? The room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view Breakfast was in a large refectory and was very good but it had to be 8.30 am I enjoyed the peacefulness and the tranquility and the beauty of the ruined abbey. i guess it may seem a little spooky to some the location to the centre of town was excellent and the Swann pub did good food and drink

Lovely modern home, quiet location but 5 mins drive from Whalley village. Nice and clean. Host was responsive and helpful when minor issues were reported on arrival. Best beds we ever slept in away from home. Apart from the points stated, it's the best place we've stayed in to date and we will return.
