Loved roaming around old town with its many laneways, shops and restaurants. Close to the port . Beautiful view. Easy town to get around. We walked from Nea Chora and used local buses to get to many out of town locations. Eg. Stavros Elafanissi Falassarna. Favourite beach is Golden Beach (a short walk from Nea Chora). Water was crystal clear and it almost has golden sand. Sand at Nea Chora is brown. We did not find a bad restaurant in Chania. Food was excellent. Whether if you're a history buff or looking for an instagram-able location for your next selfie, the Old Town and adjacent Venetian Harbour are fascinating to walk around. The area is full of great photo opportunities around every corner, as well as cool little shops and restaurants scattered throughout. The more modern shopping precinct of Chania is in the centre with everything you may need during your visit. Public transport is cheap and reliable although car hire shops abound if you prefer to drive yourself. There are tour companies available if you want to go sight-seeing and let someone else do the driving. Make sure you visit the Archaeological Museum during your stay to learn the history of human habitation on Crete. Chania is a great spot to base yourself for travel in the north-west region of Crete. Where can I start, excellent Host Manolis .
Where can I start, excellent Host Manolis . The best caring host I have seen so far. Always helpful, sitting outside so no one blocks the driveway. There is a Mini Market downstairs and a coffee place next door. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms and the apartment are huge. Convenient to all locations, very helpful Manolis to tell you how to get there and where to go. I highly recommend this place near the beach, you can walk there. Will stay again when I go to Chania. It also has a bathtub and a shower separately, which is very rare, and a washing machine. It's exactly what everyone needs. We were surprised with the huge amount of tagging and the amount of trash lying about We loved the little hotel we stayed at - Hotel Chania - and the old town waterfront for meals, walks and socislising.
