Though the beaches aren't your classic white sandy beaches the sea is beautiful and the people are really hospitable. I loved this island.
I loved this island. It was so charming and such a slow lifestyle, which is definitely what I needed (and I'm sure a lot of people need on vacation). You could spend hours in the harbor watching boats go by, or take a water taxi to the different beaches around the Island. I didn't get to do it, but I wish I did Harriet's Horses while I was there. It's a small company that takes people throughout the island on horseback. I contacted the woman who ran it, and she was so kind. GO TO THIS ISLAND! Hydra was very busy when we arrived - then we realised a cruise ship had docked and there were thousands on shore. however, they went as fast as they arrived which was great. Stella, the owner of the Hotel Boutique, provided outstanding hospitality. She made us feel right at home, always attentive and helpful with all our requests. Equally exceptional was the friendly cleaning lady, whose service was impeccable.
