It was a wonderful vacation, in which I had the kindness, warmth and respect, through small gifts of local products, from the doctor - the owner. I liked that the linen is clean and changed every 2 days. The pool is wonderful and clean. In the end, we left the view over the bay, which is special both from the rooms and from the balcony. You must have a car, so that it will be easier to get to the villa, because it climbs steeply up the hill for about 500 m, but it is very nice for the panic feelings of falling into the void that you have from the car.

Great app., we had 2 studios in one, fantastic roof top terrace with a pool and all needed, close to Voulisma beach, buses available to Agios Nikolaos, great restaurants and bars, bakeries, supermarkets, pharmacy in the near.     Big sandy beaches. Good tavernas, we liked MeRaki. Istron is a "strip" of a village running along a main road. There are apartments and hotels up the hillside from the road, with not too much road noise. When rough you can hear the sea from your apartment. Apart from the beaches and eating places there is probably not too much else to do.

    Istro is a town stretching along the main street.

    Istro is a town stretching along the main street. It may not have any historical or super charming places but it has everything we needed: shops and restaurants, bistros, cafes and car rentals. It is based on tourists but not overloaded with them. You can meet locals drinking coffee or eating in the evenings (we recommend ΚΑΦΕΝΕΙΟ ΝΙΚΟΣ).

    v nice family run hotel good size good design V nice room with sea view well maintained, good room and common area cleaning nice pool, good private beach - not crowed private parking good quite location will visit again and would recommend we had hire car, travel eastern side of the island and visited several of the other hotel options, we were pleased we booked Istron Bay.

    Istron itself is a small town with some conveniences like...

    Istron itself is a small town with some conveniences like ATM, tavernas etc. We stayed there not because we wanted to be in this particular town but because of the access it gave is to the surrounding area. With a car we could easily reach many beautiful beaches, ancient villages in the mountains, Ag Nicholas for history, churches etc. and some genuine Greek restaurants, mainly in villages. It is a good central point for many things that interest us.

    Istron is one of many small towns, on the main road between Agios Nicolaos and Sitia.there are lovely beaches, tavernas and small supermarkets for all your needs Try eating at Mama Loutros, you will ot be disappointed!

    Istron is a lovely place to stay with fantastic beaches and very friendly people. It is not an overly lively resort but has enough for older teens (Palace Bar was great and had lovely cocktails too and Friends had live music on some nights). It is also a great location to explore more of the island

    The hotel is really a little outdated, but very well done. It rises very beautifully above the beach, the hotel building itself is very atmospheric, snow-white, with thick walls and picturesque arches. The main advantage is its own bay and location. The staff is pleasant, polite, but unhurried (all our requests were not fulfilled immediately, we had to remind. Probably it's typical for Greece generally). There were a few minor issues, for example they forgot to bring shampoo to our room few times, but this did not spoil our holiday).

    Balcony on upper floor with fantastic view an bay below. Terrace on lower flow, also nice view. Spacious rooms with upper and lower floor. Apartment suited for 4 people, so with ony 2 it was definitely more than enough space. Spacious shower, which were not a given in other accomodations on crete. Nice sized pool with numerous lounge chairs. Nice fruit basket. Only a 15-20min walk down to the Voulisma Beach and the small village with restaurants.

    Good value for money, considering the surrounding The kindness of the owner and her daughter who gave as present some olive oil, raki and a little souvenir from Crete. I got as well some wine, a fruit basket and a delicious piece of homemade pastitsio. Spacious apartment for 1 or 2 people. Close to the Voulisma beach, restaurants, supermarket and bus station.
