Monemvasia is a lovely village built at the base of an island reachable by a bridge. There are two great spots to swim on the island side of the bridge, on of which is quite sheltered by rocks so we were able to take a dip although the wind and waves were strong. Monemvasia is a beautiful destination, where one feels instantly relaxed and at peace. Besides the slight difficulty in finding parking outside of the castle and the small "hike" that might entail for the more unlucky ones, the scenery inside is absolutely worth it. I'd recommend max two nights in Monemvasia. The old town is beautiful and easy to access. No more tha half a day is needed to explore it however it has several very nice restaurants which you can go back to and enjoy for dinner. There are no organised beaches in the immediate area though you can swim off the rocks at the base of the rock or travel not to far to other towns to swim.
