Santorini itself is a really beautiful destination with green waters, mountains, beaches and volcanoes. However, Vothon is a bit inconvenient if you dont have a car. Walk to the nearest bus stop was 15 minutes and bus frequency is about once every half an hour. Old Port (from where most excursions start) is half an hour by bus. Nearest beach (Kamari) was 15 to 20 minutes by bus. If you want a luxurious holiday with a car rental, this location is wonderful. It was a nice, quiet, beautiful village that was right in the middle of the island and therefore easy to travel to places from. Has amenities, like a grocery store, restaurants, playground, etc. but it’s quieter than the busy tourist towns nearby. The restaurant Vothonaki was excellent and probably the best meal of our whole trip.
