We very much enjoyed this paradise for the second time. The filoxenia of the family has no limits. Many thanks to Evi, Jorgos, Nikos and the staff at the taverna. The beautiful sound of the waterfalls of Zaros and the garden with roses and lovely trees make you feel relax and give you a good mood. They drove us to the lake, where you can admire nature and trouts. At the lake they also have a taverna. From the large swimming pool you can also enjoy the mountains. We certainly will come back this year.

We are so happy with our choice, will come back again 1000% we wanted something different, typical greek village, Zaros is beautiful you sleep with the crickets chirping and wake up with the rooster crowing. Tap water in Greece, NO! In Zaros you can drink it and we did, a lot! The owner was very nice and helpful, we had homemade lemonade, water, raki and a fruit plate waiting for us. Kitchen is equiped with everyting you need if you like to eat "at home" as we do. We saw the next day that there is a homecooked menu in the appartment possible, which you have to order the day before, we'll try that for sure next time. Nice big balcony, bathroom even has a washing machine. The village has minimarkets, cafes and restaurant, lake Zaros is just a few minutes away with the car.

This is a beautiful traditional home in Zaros, offering three apartments. Every apartment is clean and extremely comfortable with everything you need inside. The bottom apartments are great for jumping straight into the pool and the top apartments are has incredible views. The village of Zaros has everything you need, tavernas, coffee shops, little traditional bars, pharmacy, bakery, butcher and gift shops. You are close to hike the Rouvas Gorge and visit Lake Zaros. The nearest stunning beaches are approximately 40min away. The owner Vivi and her sister Cristina make you feel welcome straight away. Their Taverna Vegera, is great, serving home cooked traditional delicious food. The cozy villa is situated in a very quiet place, no noise at night. The owner wasn't there, but he had the key ready for us, as well as everything for a luxurious breakfast, a bottle of wine,.... we felt very welcomed! The beds were the best we had on our round trip through Crete and there was a fan in the bedroom as well as a good airco to cool the place We actually felt sorry that we couldn't stay longer, it was probably the best holiday house we ever had in 30 years of intensive traveling.

Besides the warm hospitality of Stella and the neighbors, who, seeing that we were traveling with a child, did not stop giving us all kinds of attention and care, we loved the rural atmosphere of the town and how impeccabile and well-kept the house was.     The village is peaceful, full of charm, and perfectly located for exploring Crete. It has everything you need within walking distance — a grocery store, bakery, crepe shop, and several places to eat. The people here are incredibly welcoming, and we experienced true Greek hospitality and kindness. It’s a place with character, where you can relax and enjoy local life, yet still be within easy driving distance of all the island’s main attractions.

    I loved the serenity. It was a perfect escape from the City. A night without the usual mod cons is quite OK. The trout from the local restaurants was perfect for dinner. I would suggest avoiding the heat of Summer.

    Very peaceful location. Authentic unspoilt village. It was like stepping back in time. No touristy stuff at all..not even a souvenir shop as far as I could see.Surroundings are incredible. I was a solo traveller and felt very much at home there.. It'd a big draw for walkers..I just wanted to chill and enjoy the views .

    Zaros is a village in the mountains ,it has the famouse lake of Zaros and the spring and the famous water of Zaros. It has traditional food and helpful lokal people. You can visit in the summer as well in the winter.

    This came a bit randomly in our trip and we’re glad it did. We loved Zaros for both the warmth of its people and the beauty of its decor. Our hike in Rouvas was great and every encounter was like it was family members. One of the highlights of our trip to Creta. If you like getting closer to people and their culture it’s a must on your list. If you’re into more attractions or shopping this one is not for you.

    A very nice area of olive groves and brush from 500 m up where you can go hiking right from the hotel (Agios Ethimnios, Rouvas Gorge) or from Lake Votomos. You can also visit monasteries (in particular Vrontisi monastery). Plenty of good and very affordable tavernas around.

    Excellent host, very proactive and helpful. Very comfortable bed, very clean and spacious room with a balcony. Nice hot shower. Good location. The host family are so nice. They gave me a lift to the next town as there were no buses that day from Zaros. Very kind

    Like every time we stayed there at IDI Hotel we had a great time. The room for three is very pleasant and comfortable. The managing couple, the breakfast, the restaurant close by, trekking in the surroundings, everything exceptional.
