Pana is a bustling friendly town with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as accomodation to suit all budgets. It is also a transportation hub for getting around Guatemala. The old part of the town (Jucanyá) is worth a visit for its lake front and views. Pana has a great market too. You can travel to other parts of the lake easily from the main dock. Tuks tuks can transport you around the town quite cheaply. I recommend Circus Bar for great pizza and lunches/dinners. This is the main hub on Lake Atitlan, with all the pros and cons that come with that. There is a great viewpoint on the lake and a few fully stocked grocery stores. If you are spending any significant time at the lake it is likely that you will make multiple stops here for supplies. The main street, Calle Santander has a good selection of restaurants, and there are handicraft shops scattered all around. The natural reserve is a must visit. Great place to check out. The boat tours from the city were pretty cool too just be sure to have a plan of what to do in the other locations. Take a tour if you can. Street food is pretty common and cheap. There are also lots of great dining options. Prepare yourself for the salesman. Every merchant will try to sell you on their wares if you stop to look. So be prepared to buy or to get out of there.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

I was expecting something really big and busy but it was such a fun town! A LOT of shopping, a lot of cafes, restaurants and bars. It’s also the main port for Lago de Atitlán. Next time I’d stay a couple of days for sure!Guest review byAnnieCanada - 10.0

Main Street Santander is not ideal, you listen to reggaeton music in many places which is terrible and so disgusting. There are many little restaurants where you can eat for a fair price. The owner, Kazuomi, has owned Hotel El Sol since 2008. He lives on the property with his beautiful family. The vibe Is Japanese/Guatemalan, the best of both worlds. There’s even a koy fish and the neighborhood is safe and quiet, tucked up against the mountain. Breakfast in their restaurant is always delicious and the staff is top notch.
