FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels available in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes it an easy choice.

We loved our first trip to Budapest.

We loved our first trip to Budapest. There are lots of historical sites to see, a great brunch cafe culture and a trip on the Danube and walk up to the Castle district are must see's on a trip to the city.

I would recommend visiting the new Ethnographic Museum.

I would recommend visiting the new Ethnographic Museum. It's only been open a few years. The exhibition is very unusual, showcasing the diversity of the world. The building itself is a masterpiece of architectural design. The visit takes about three hours, after which you can enjoy a delicious and relatively inexpensive meal at the museum cafe. The magnificent, clean city park provides a pleasant contrast to the less-than-clean central streets. The city park area adjacent to Heroes' Square, with its museums and lake, is my favorite place in Budapest. Despite the tourists, you'll feel right at home here.

    Amazing city.

Amazing city. Needed more than 10 days to see and do everything at a relaxed pace (2 senior women). Made use of Royal Services Hungary for private airport transfer, City tour, Danube Bend day trip and combined Bratislava/Vienna day trip. Well worth the $$. Exceptional service and very knowledgeable guides. Not a fan of Hop On Hop Off bus. Sound system terrible and staff not friendly or helpful. Public transit used once was ok. Free for over 65 with photo ID. So much history and beautiful architecture throughout. Food and service at most restaurants good. Bakeries fabulous with a huge variety of pastries. Too many souvenir stores with all the same goods and Great Hall Market very overpriced. Hidden gems can be found you just have to search for them. Had a wonderful experience at the end of my visit with Adri at Knuckle Up Tattoo Shop leaving with my “permanent souvenir”. Definitely planning a return visit. Could easily make Budapest an annual vacation spot.

Having traveled extensively, I've found that few places captivate me like Budapest. It's easily one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. I keep coming back for its warm, welcoming people, its infectious energy, and a food and drink scene that seems to have something new to discover every time. The city offers an incredible mix of experiences—you can spend your days soaking in the historic thermal baths and your nights exploring the unique ruin bars. And the best part? The breathtaking architecture, from the intricate Parliament Building to the ancient Buda Castle, is a feast for the eyes that you could never get tired of.

Budapest is always nice place to visit.

Budapest is always nice place to visit. During our visit we went to several places and covered also Free Budapest tour, which was really nice. Museum of Money is pretty nice and it`s free. It`s interactive and for kids is really nice one. National Museum is a must! Try local food, but keep in mind that downtown is kind of expensive. Of course you can find more affordable places to eat. Food was really nice one on each please where we had, so highly recommended. Transport is pretty easy, but book stay around downtown, will be nice to walk around during the evenings.

This hotel was fantastic. The room was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. As a side note, we did not use the wellness facilities, so we cannot comment on that. What we really liked is that this hotel is very close to Budapest city centre (about 15 minute bus ride) and yet it is out in nature. There is great trekking nearby and the public transport connections worked like clockwork. The hotel staff were very helpful and breakfast was good as well.
