We stayed at Mario on two occasions on this trip, once at the start and the end. It’s 20 mins from Tambulaka airport and is the perfect place to start to unwind and for preparing to complete a wonderful holiday. The staff are friendly and kind. The rooms are clean, well-considered and comfortable. Book the sea-view double, you won’t regret it when you wake up to the wide expanse of the sea outside your window. It’s right on the beach so you can enjoy the sand and expanse of salty sea, or lounge by the pool which, while some have noted looks strange in colour, but is cleaned every morning and is a saltwater based. Fantastic cos’ it’s great for your skin without the harshness of chlorine. Food is delicious. All in all, Mario is small enough to feel like home and still clearly a very well-maintained and cared for hotel.

Founded on a meaningful cause, we love how Maringi Sumba is a teaching school and training hub for the locals going into hospitality. You get staff who are professional, and eager to provide excellent service. Hotel is close to the airport, airport pick up is provided, it is located in a private area so getting on full board is needed. We love that there are tours (additional cost) with knowledgeable guides to show us the beauty of Sumba, and we love that there is a farm growing our meals. What stood out is the impressive staff, we have learnt so much about Sumba’s culture through our guest captain! Great way to start our trip! Highly recommend.

This is a great spot to start your journey in Sumba. Next to the ocean this place belongs to a community and is real, it is run by locals who will assist you with all your needs. The rooms are simple, but very clean and unbeatable for the price, even with AC. The ladies working there were so sweet and nice, they organized a pick-up from the airport, a scooter to rent, and I could even store my luggage with them while I was away for a few days. The breakfast was rich and also yummy dinner options available. I felt very good.

Oro beach House owned by Bu Sisca who is very friendly and sweet woman, Their staffs (Pak Rio, Pak & Bu Elsa, Pak Adi) are also friendly...Our stay feel like home.. We can experience like local in this place.. Truly an unique experience.. Bu Sisca cooked our dinner and breakfast with heart and the taste are super delicious! Oro Beach House location is super beautiful, Oro beach is so exotic with cliff and white sands beach..it's so quiet...just you and the nature...at night you can also see millions of stars! Will stay at Oro Beach House again for sure!
