Leap was a good centre for visiting this part of Ireland.

Leap was a good centre for visiting this part of Ireland. Make sure to base car journeys around the main roads as much as possible (N71 for example) because satnavs tend to direct one up roads which are very narrow in order to gain a few minutes, but which risk taking years off your life! There is little point in recommending specific locations because they all have their individual charm. The driver will get less of an opportunity to take in views, so a tourist coach could be ideal if that is desired. Personally we would give Cork city centre a miss unless interested in the history (or the bars!), but the harbour and more southerly area is well worth a visit. You are likely to meet locals who have their own ideas of where to visit, and these are often valuable in revealing less-visited spots.

This is a great base for touring West Cork as it is centrally located. There is also a great takeaway in Ballydehob called Bally Bia. Fabulous food and homemade chips. Was great for a bite to eat on route home from Mizen Head

Leap is a small town between Clonakilty & Skibbereen. Both 20 minutes each away. 25 minutes to the beautiful Lough Hyde. Leap has a great friendly buzz with great bars & bar food. A great location for sightseeing & many many beautiful places to visit well within a short drive.

Leap is a small village well placed for exploring the gorgeous beaches and towns of West Cork. I would like to go back every year!!! Leap itself has everything you need, a couple of pubs, cafe, small grocery store, post office.
