Great village-style choice of pubs, food shopping, restaurants and gift shops. Sense of a real and supportive community. Everyone flexible and willing to help. Lovely village, friendly people and close enough to Galway...
Lovely village, friendly people and close enough to Galway City. We had a night out at Powers Thatch Pub and the food and service was excellent. The live music was a bonus, thoroughly enjoyed the Irish music.Guest review bySHARON - 10.0

A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes. A few nice shops. Nice place to stay I'd you're traveling around Connemara. It's about and hour to Kylemore Abby as well as to the ferry or airport that gets you to the Aran Islands. Definitely work a stop if you have some time. Even though the breakfast times are fixed our host made an exception as we had to get to the ferry early in the morning and we could eat half an hour earlier then usually possible. To make it as fast as possible she even took our order for the meal immediately so we would not loose any time in the morning. Since we only stayed two nights and wandered around most of the day, we experienced our stay at this B&B in the mornings with breakfast. And it was a very pleasant experience, we all felt very good and relaxed, the owners were very fiendly and helpful. Deirdre generously loaned her golf trolley for my round at Oughterard Golf Course, which was just minutes away. The location is idyllic... along the river, with a trail (short cut) into town.
