The Taj Mahal is undoubtedly the main attraction but it eclipses two not to be missed sights: Itmad ud Daula's tomb and Fatehpur Sikri. The former is amazing in its intricate work and is a monument on which the design of the Taj Mahal was based upon. Fatehpur Sikri should be visited in the early hours to avoid the heat. It needs 4 hours to see. Opening at 6 am, I advise leaving Agra at 5 am to reach early and get good light for photos. Agra isn't a big city but don't make the traditional mistake of just seeing the Major attractions. Walk the streets, especially the back streets. You'll find artisans of all kinds producing the wares sold as small keepsakes, leather work, all the way up to huge inlaid marble items such as tables.
