Great stop on the ring road, Hwy. 1. Simple town with nice guesthouses on the ocean. Highly recommend the Brimslod Altier Guesthouse! We also had dinner there, and is open to non-guest reservations. Amazing sea views. Great breakfast. Ate dinner at another establishment in town that was very good. If we stayed longer we would have eaten dinner at the hotel. The room was gorgeous. Loved the roof window. It even had a bluetooth speaker that sounded great. We could have stayed much longer if we had the time. Nice little bridgehead town with various services.
Nice little bridgehead town with various services. A good base to travel from. Various choices of good day trips, e.g. around Skagi and Vatnsnes peninsulas, Skagafjörður district and the scenic valley of Vatnsdalur. Blönduós is also a good staring point for a highland drive across Kjölur to Reykjavík.Guest review bySigfus

The breakfast area is so wonderfully decorated and offers a massive window that provides incredible views of the ocean. Breakfast was fabulous; it included a wide variety of meats (included smoked salmon), jams, bread, cereal, etc. Our room was cozy with a very modern bathroom, a couch, and beautifully furnished. It was easy to find and very private. The location was picturesque and convenient for an overnight stay. The rooms were small and cosy with very comfortable furniture.
