Amazing location. Just 2.5 hours from Reykjavík, easily accessible with good roads and fast free Wifi in the rooms. Remote hotel nestled in a beautiful mountain range. Perfect for star gazing or spotting the Aurora with literally no light pollution. Swimming pool heated from the hot spring water. As is the natural plunge pool situated above the hotel and below an icy waterfall. Amazing experience. Should really be a 4 or 5 star hotel with all it's facilities, but the main stars are definitely the owners. Great hospitality, both were very kind and friendly.

A beautiful and very modern cabin in a serene setting with almost no one around. Exceptional attention to detail with nothing left to chance. Excellent shower and bathroom. Very spacious, super modern even by hotel standards, with a really comfy bed. Top to bottom glass walls with beautiful views over the bay with seals (telescope included!) - watching them was great! Supermarket less than a 5 minute drive away. Hosts were wonderful. If you are the area and looking for peace and quiet, look no further - very highly recommended!

Isabelle and Marat are exemplary hosts and couldn’t have been more charming. The suite itself was exceptional in design and comfort and a great deal of thought had gone into the detail - beautiful linens and robes, well equipped kitchen and my favourite Skandinavisk toiletries. After some quite energetic salmon fishing it was wonderful to wind down at this wonderful suite, easing tired limbs in the sauna (with exceptional views) and falling into the most comfortable bed to dream about the lax! It is just perfect. Chasing Northern Lights is on of my dreams. And this house is the perfect location for shooting Northern lights. The owner even close the lights for better photographing condition! Of course, other than the nothern lights, the beds are comfortable. The room is spacious. Althought the house does not provide breakfast, you can use the microwave and table in the room. The rooms in many Icelandic guesthouses are usafully quite small. But this one is big and comfortable. And if northern lights is your must-see-activity for your trip in Iceland. You should choose this guesthouse.

Stóra-Vatnshorn is located 500 metres from the historic Eiríksstadir site and 17 km from Búdardalur village.

We stayed in a cozy cabin, fully equipped and super clean with wonderfull views. The place is really quiet to relax away from touristic places but also well located for visiting the nearby area. A little sad that we were only staying for one night. We definitely recommend staying here. Hope to come back in the future.
