AustraliaWe loved everything here. The ability to use the commercial kitchen, access to washer and dryer, location, friendly owner, free coffee tea and hot chocolate 24/7. Beds were comfy, bathroom floors were heated. A 20 minute drive to Dalvik if you’re there for whale watching. Really good value for money. Awesome place - stay here!

TaiwanComing from Taiwan, I love remote small towns. There aren't many people here, and they're so friendly.
We cooked our own meals, and it felt like we were living here. It was wonderful. The beer baths were a two-minute walk away, which was a wonderful experience. At night, we even saw the Northern Lights from our chairs next to the hotel!
If you like a quiet, light-free spot, this is a great choice! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. :)

The hotel is more boutique than I expected which was a bonus. I loved the Moroccan restaurant too. I'd definitely stay again and this time use the hot tub!

Looking back, I feel lucky that we ended (pretty much by chance) in Ólafsfjörður and not somewhere in the south. Driving is slow in Iceland so even just getting to Akureyri was a substantial trip but that's a constant in Iceland. Knowing what I know now, it was as good a base as any, and better than most. On our way back to the airport when we stopped by the locations of the so-called Golden Circle, with their hundreds of buses and their crowds, it felt bizzare. The main attraction of Iceland is that you can take a hike among the hills and, with just a little luck, have the whole valley for yourself (not counting the sheep). The neighboring Dalvik offers great horse rides (do look at Tvistur), the ferry to Grimsey, and more.Guest review byMartinCzech Republic
