Easy to find and right opposite the bay. Lots of parking. Good breakfast. Had a meal one night which was great and nice waiters. Good welcome at reception. A bakery just around the corner which sold rolls and provisions and pieces of pizza too. Most people visited the bird cliffs I expect judging from all the dusty cars. Worth the drive there and last day we visited the famous inland waterfalls at Dynjandi………which were amazing and loos there. Only signposted 2hen nearly there but you get an awesome view of interior and #nowline. Really good.

The host is very laid back and is very kind and lovely. Everyone working there is wonderful. We had our dinner there and the mushroom soup, the cod and the blueberry skyr dessert were excellent. The waiter even held our baby for a while so we could have some quiet time during the meal. The breakfast was perfect with different bread options and lovely spreads and cheese + cold cuts. We highly recommend this hotel.

Patró is my old hometown, I was born here and I love it.

Patró is my old hometown, I was born here and I love it. The beautiful mountain scenery, the still evenings like nowhere else and the amazing nature to visit in the area, Rauðasandur, Látrabjarg and the Folkmuseum at Hnjótur to name some. Don't miss out on the dining at Stúkuhúsið, we went their night after night and always got really delicious food every time. Local fish and lamb meat. Another spot not to miss is the swimming pool "with a view" and take time to visit "Pollurinn" The Hot Pool, only 25 minutes away open 24/7 Try the "Ærslabelgur" the trampolin in the town center plus the swings (any age) to add to the fun! Take a stroll down to the harbour, and alongside the waterfront. Sometimes you might even spot a whale nearby!

Patreksfjöður has a splendid municipal pool--go there!

Patreksfjöður has a splendid municipal pool--go there! Something else just a little different: Patreksfjöður is the recipient of some significant government funding (or so I suppose--the project had to have been a massive undertaking) to construct a huge avalanche mitigation system. It created two enormous walls wall to block and direct snow from coming off the incredibly steep sides of the fjord and burying the town--as has tragically happened in other towns located in the extremely steep-sided fjords. In Patreksfjöður, they also put a walkway along the top of the wall. It has an absolutely marvelous view out over the town to the fjord and the mountains to the south. There are benches and picnic tables to bring a lunch and enjoy the sights in clement weather. I thought it was one of the best win-wins I have ever seen!

Eat at Flak Cafe - the best fist soup ever.

Eat at Flak Cafe - the best fist soup ever. The young chef is a gem and the bartender a joy. This is the chef's first summer -- eat there while you can. The desert is also extraordinary: rhubarb and chocolate!! The appetizer is delicious.

We used Patreksfjordur as a home base for two nights in the Latrabjarg peninsula and Western Fjords. The Latrabjarg Bird Cliffs were stunning. The puffins aren’t shy and you can get within a few feet of them. Millions of other birds too. This was one of the best days of our trip. The Rauoasandur beach was also amazing. You will need a full day to do both. But we’ll worth it. The town has a large swimming pool but we chose a small thermal pool at Flokalunder near the ferry. Ate at Flak which is a bar serving only soup and drinks which was very good and satisfying. They had a folk group entertainment which was an unexpected treat. Also ate at Stukuhusid. Need reservations here which I arranged on line before we left home. Great dinner. Last day we drove to Isafjordur which was a long trip on gravel and paved roads and through two long tunnels. But interesting drive and an adventure.

We were super appreciative the front desk attendant had stayed almost an hour after normal working hours waiting for us. We weren’t aware of the reception times and felt bad once we arrived and realized we were outside normal work hours for this property. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. We had gotten off the ferry, then were truly enjoying the gem of Dynjandi before looping back for the approximately 1hr45 min drive to Hotel West. Beds were comfy. View of the water was soothing especially on a rainy moody overcast day.
