It is a pictoresque little city without many tourists. There are various restaurants and little beaches. It feels Italian in a wonderful relaxed way. The public transport by boat is great for visiting other cities around the lake and leaving the car behind. We walked around the area, went to the grocery store, went down to the lake, walked around the city along the lake. We chose restaurants based on our favorite Italian rule: go where the locals go. Luckily, there are very few tourists in Mandello, so it was easy to find good places with tasty and cheap food. We moved around the city on foot. A wonderful lakeside village, with a fantastic Moto Guzzi museum and tour, away from the hustle and bustle of Bellagio, a true gem in Lake Como. Wonderful people everywhere, including the Mamma Ciccia, the Osteria Colombo. Concerts in the piazza outside our apartment and a wonderful village life experience.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

We loved it there it there. Harbour accessible for ferries. Not as touristy as some place. We enjoyed just sitting on benches in the shade reading our books. We mainly catered for ourselves. I'm dairy free and my partner is veggie, we found it difficult to find somewhere to just have a simple meal that wasn't pizza or a bit pricey. Loved Mandello. It is a fantastic location. This charming village offers plenty to do and is perfect for scenic walks along the lake or through the park. It's less touristy than the more well-known towns, which gives it an authentic, local feel. Restaurants, cafes, a big supermarket, free parking. We visited in mid May and it was amazing. Thank you! Very nice little town if you wish to run away from the crowds. Has Moto Guzzi museum, ferries taking you to any end of the lake, including Bellagio. Trains for quick travel. Few nice cafeterias and restaurants worth visiting if you are in for a longer stay.Guest review byMindaugasLithuania

We traveled with a baby and there was a small playground close (with babyswing 👌😁). There’s also a small tiny beach close (besides the gelateria, restaurants etc). The downstairs apartment also has a place to sit outside, we picked up a pizza and it felt like a private restaurant 😄 (very convenient for young parents). Really close to many beautiful hiking tracks. Pretty easy to walk up the hill from the train station also with luggage (less than 3 kilometres to both Mandello del Lario and Olcio, tickets best to buy online). Hot water in the shower. Beautifully appointed room and tastefully renovated. The location was fabulous, only a few metres from the lake. The restaurant within our accommodation was perfect and had a delicious dinner late that night on our arrival. We would have loved to stay longer in this area of Mandello del Lario.
