Fantastic location (hidden gem) overlooking the local lake, had evening meal on restaurant terrace lakeside food/service was outstanding, reception staff fantastic/welcoming (good English) excellent quality and value. Worth noting Mergozzo is slightly away from lake Maggiore but quieter more intimate and much better value. Mergozzo is a fantastic place to spend a couple of days, also good for enjoyable overnight if travelling via Simplon pass, will stay again.

A perfect stay to explore the region - even though the weather was mixed. We loved this cozy and well equipped little house in the countryside. In the evenings we enjoyed the view from our sheltered balcony. We have planned to come back. Thank you.

    It’s a small place but it’s not overrun by tourists and the locals were friendly. Had the best Gorgonzola from the shop on the left as you walk down to the lake from the station. We dined twice at Casa Castagna , delicious both times. Really nowhere we ate was bad . Swimming in Lake Mergozzo is a must. It really was clean and warm .

    Mergozzo is an awesome little town right on the lake. It's heavenly and super peaceful. Plenty of delicious food to devour. Lots of activities in Mergozzo or nearby. Plenty of hiking trails around. And the people are so kind and welcoming.

    Mergozzo is a beautiful old town on the edge of Lake Mergozzo. There are many amazing places to stay and have food and the most delicious ice cream is sold on the town square. There are activities on the lake such as paddle boarding, canoeing and peddle boats and you can hike several different paths from the town. It is in close proximity to Lake Maggiore which offers boat trips to its islands and has many restaurants overlooking the lake. The views are stunning.

    Its a very peaceful place, close enough to the other lakes. The restaurants were all dog friendly and the service and quality was brilliant. The old town has got cobbled streets and some very old buildings.

    We were there for a wedding so only booked a few days but I...

    We were there for a wedding so only booked a few days but I now wish we could have stayed longer to really explore the area. Mergozzo is much quieter and relaxed than Stresa and some of the other towns nearby which were too crowded and touristy for me. It's a beautiful location with several decent bars and restaurants to choose from and lots of things to do nearby.

    As the Hotel is not directly on Lake Maggiore, but a little way out, I was pleasantly surprised by its location overlooking Lake Mergozzo and also the quality and staff. I thought that the restaurant was a little expensive, but doubtless that would be more on Maggiore itself - however, the quality of the food was SUPERB !, the best meal I have had for several years - definitely worth a visit.

    We loved everything about Casa Castagna 1620. The friendly welcome and wonderful service from the staff, the beautiful location and the amazing food. The location is stunning and the room is so relaxing with a wonderful view of the lake. We would highly recomend this hotel.

    Beautiful house with large terrace overlooking lago Mergozzo. Super friendly host helping us instantly when we had a question. A few minutes walking (not a single complaint about the distance from the little people) to a small quiet beach and playground.
