Ostuni is a beautiful city located near so many other unique neighboring cities. The people were wonderful, helpful, and so many go above and beyond to understand your needs or questions. Ostuni has a great bustle and nightlife, the main square in particular. Despite visiting in August peak season it never felt too crowded. There is plenty to see and do, but it is also a perfect base to explore the other towns in the area and for going on cycle tours. The tuk tuk tours are undoubtedly overpriced, but great fun for a one off experience, especially the electric vehicles. So many options to eat & drink. As we wanted a relaxing holiday with a couple of trips it was perfect. We booked a wine tasting trip and then a cooking class to lecce. We made our own way to lecce and had a taxi to Martina Franca for the wind tasting. Ostuni was beautiful with many lovely restaurants. We love Italian food and wine and so explored different restaurants. The hotel I chose had a pool for relaxing days. The owners were fantastic and very welcoming. Beautiful hotel Palazzo Altavilla only 2 minutes walk from the centre with lovely breakfasts and so comfortable. We ventured to two different beaches also which made it really great. Onda Blu and Villanova. Clear waters and nice beach bars. The restaurants we ate at varied and included Ostuni Palace, fine dining, Le Regge Di Ostuni, Il Solito Posto, pizza, La Vechia more fine dining, Mosca Bianca for great gnocchi and a few others. A lovely, characterful old town full of charming local people. Some great views to be had over the surrounding countryside and a good selection of cafes/restaurants. Steep in places with well-worn cobbles/paving stones so please watch your footing and best to have 'grippy' soles! The close proximity to the old town is fantastic and some fantastic restaurants and shops leading up to it. Delighted that it wasn’t an array of boutique shops and expensive stuff. It was just a small number of shops but good restaurants. The location is fantastic. Going in May is perfect as the temperature is just right. Family run, the breakfast was delightful and the staff went out of their way to look after us and make us feel at home. The room was spacious and had plently of space to hang/unpack our clothes. Beds were very comfortable too - I couldnt have been more pleased with our stay. Very close to Ostuni too and the beach was a short walk/drive away. Within 10 minutes you are at the beach by car. Furthermore, it is a beautiful Masseria in a lovely olive grove. The family that lives and runs the Masseria is fantastic, incredibly hospitable and both breakfast and dinner are of very good quality.
