It's an ancient town with several museums.
It's an ancient town with several museums. Most importantly, it's only 10 minutes drive from Villa Romana, where you can see the most important and extensive Roman mosaics in the world. They will take your breath away! Get there early and the coaches won't have arrived. Most important tip - if you come by car - get a SMALL one. I highly recommend visiting Villa Romana del Casale which was remarkable. However Piazza Armerina itself does not cater for visitors well with very few options for evening meals. Piazza Armerina is a wonderful town in the centre of Sicily. Not only do you find there the most beautiful Roman mosaics in the nearby Villa Romana del Casale. The historic city of Piazza Armerina is a splendid and picturesque place. The panoramic view of the historic city from the famous viewpoint is one of the most breathtaking views in Sicily.
