A small historic centre on a hillside, with beautiful scenery and cute streets. A great place to sit and watch the world go by. There are a good few interesting historical sites to visit right the the town centre, which is very easy to reach from the train station. It has great places to eat including Osteria del Matto (fixed menu with great freshly cooked, food, but not suitable for vegetarians) and Contrasti Cucina e Ozio, with a high-quality menu and still reasonable prices. La Bottega is wonderful for a glass of wine with quality local salumi, cheese or porchetta. There are really handy underground moving walkways to help you up or down the steep streets and shade you from the hot weather. The bars in the main square offer small aperitivo included in the price of a drink at all times of the day. There is a lot of construction right now(summer 2025) to upgrade older buildings , but I'm sure this will only improve the town.Guest review bySineadItaly - 10.0

Beautiful historic town with many restaurants, winding streets, squares In which to sit and people watch. Two Worlds Festival brought lovers of drama, music, opera, ballet and art to the town but didn’t feel too full. However, pre-book accommodation and restaurants near to the venues. Access to centre of Spoleto can be via underground light and airy passageways and travelators if you want to avoid the climb in the heat of the day! Donatella was fantastic, very helpful and kind. For breakfast there was tea, coffee, fruit juice, toast, cake, yoghurt and jam tart. The location is at the bottom of Spoleto Hill about 1.5 kms from the centre but there is an escalator only an 8 minute walk away which takes you directly to the top which is very handy. The room was very clean, comfortable in every aspect and nicely decorated. Breakfast was included and it was delicious with homemade cakes, fluffy pastries, nice yogurt, fruit, cheese, eggs and more.
