The hotel was quiet and elegant in every way. I loved all of the automatic sliding doors and the modern, clean aesthetics. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and even arranged for a taxi to pick us up the morning we checked out. The room was beautiful and spacious, and the onsen was clean, relaxing, and quiet.

Pictures simply cannot do this place justice. It is incredibly beautiful, every corner of the hotel was well curated and designed. The service was absolutely incredible. We had a couple of things we needed assistance with and Reiko and Yuna were always available to help our group. Everyone was just so kind! There are literally hundreds of cocktails to try and everything we had was great. This was honestly the most magical hotel I’ve ever stayed in, just unreal attention to detail and service. Thank you so much, barhotel!

I really loved Hakone and would definitely visit again.

I really loved Hakone and would definitely visit again. There are many small trails in the mountains that are great for walking and enjoying nature. The Glass Museum and the Open-Air Museum are must-see attractions, both are beautiful and well worth the visit. Lake Ashi was calm, scenic, and very peaceful. I truly enjoyed my time in Hakone and wish I could have stayed longer. I would have loved to walk around more

The surrounding area is so beautiful.

The surrounding area is so beautiful. We wish we had more time to explore. Nice shops to find the local specialties. The Open Air Museum was fantastic! We wish we had more time to visit the other museums. The different food treats are a must to try.

It’s a beautiful place with a lot to offer I wish we had more time to visit all the towns and see more. I think 2-3 nights would have been better vs 1. Such incredible food and scenery!! Very easy to get around on the local trains and buses

Beautiful mountains.

Beautiful mountains. We mostly explored on foot and by tram and gondola. We did not get the impression we could reserve our parking space at the inn and there were very few, so we did not use the car during out stay. The pancake place by Gora Station was great. Friendly staff and delicious menu items. They were quick to give us a toddler bowl and cutlery for our little one.

Hakone is great but dont expect good weather , we couldnt see Fuji . Like so many other places on the tourist trail there are too many people there . Get off the trail , go to small towns and other islands , see a bit of real Japan rather than a crowd of tourists .

Hakone is a busy place but Rohen Ashinoko was quiet and cosy within a ten minute walk to the lake and all the attractions and restaurants/shops there. The staff are very welcoming and the breakfast and dinner were very good.

Beautiful traditional hotel in the mountains. Our room was very spacious (twin with an onsen and it was so worth it). We have also checked out the communal onsen which had both an inside and outside pools and a very chill vibe. Amazing traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast - don't expect cereal or eggs, this is very different to a European breakfast. We loved walking around the hotel in our yucatas. Overall an amazing stay. I'd also recommend the Hakone sculpture park afterwards - it's a 20 minute walk away or a bus ride.

This hotel checked all the boxes of what we expected for a ryokan (traditional Japanese onsen hotel). The Japanese style room was spotless and spacious with mountain view. The whole property is surrounded by well-maintained Japanese garden, which is a plus for a quiet morning walk and creates great view for outdoor onsen as well. The service was great, walkable distance from main Hakone station. The restaurant was closed the time we visited, we'd love to come back for a whole experience.

The location was great, just by the main Hakone-Yumoto Station, allowing you to get to different attractions directly with nearby trains and buses. Staff were friendly and communication was no problem with translation machine. Family-run business so it was old-fashioned Japanese style rooms, onsen plus yukata for the whole experience. One of the cheaper and convenient options to experience a stay in Hakone.

Incredible ryokan - if you want a traditional Japanese experience in an authentic property book this hotel. You have access to both an outdoor and indoor onsen and the most incredible Japanese food. Hakone is stunning.
