Izu is a wonderful varied destination with great food ,beaches and outdoor things to do ,It is a good place to go when you need a break from thee heat and crowds of summer in Japan.I very much recommend visiting Terrace Orange in Toi..It's a unique building built as both a tsunami refuge and community center with a lovely cafe and a restaurant with some of the freshest and nicest food on our trip .The architecture is fabulous and there is even a footbath acing the sea.

There is a more to explore here than we realized. Apart from hiking up hills for great views, we did not budget enough time for more sight-seeing. We had wanted to visit a wasabi farm but wound up at a wasabi market which was really cool with lots of wasabi based products - that was an experience in itself. Probably best explored by car.

It was a lovely small town, a welcome change from busy cities crowded with tourists. Very relaxing, beautiful hot springs in the middle of town, a charming temple and shrine surrounded by huge cedar trees. We stayed twi nights and really enjoyed it. From Shuzenji station you can take bus to a viewing area where if the weather conditions are right you can view Mt Fuji.

Izu is a beautiful coastal city. I like the quiet streets over there. Like a wide variety of fresh seafood. Like to enjoy the magnificent scenery of Mount Fuji in Izu Panorama Park. I like this visually pleasing place,

I booked this ryokan to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. This is the first time we have stayed at a ryokan, and the stay has exceeded our expectations! The ryokan itself is a national cultural asset, indeed the interior is absolutely stunning, with lots of nature and a pond where you can feed the koi. Our room was Japanese style with a river view, the view is impressive. The onsens inside the ryokan are very comforting, as well as the kaiseki dinner and the hearty breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Super great “ryokan” hotel located above mountain river. If you like to get real Japanese hospitality and experience - that’s the place. Super tasty Japanese food served as “kaiseki” - basically chefs table, breakfast and dinner. You really don’t need any lunch over there. Hot springs right next to your door. Unbelievably friendly and professional service. Lots of walking routes through the forest.

Staff are very kind. Food is the greatest I have ever had considering the onsen hotels I have stayed before. The view from the room is like traditional Japanese style garden. Very relaxing experience! The manager gave us a ride back to Shuzenji station, and along the way the manager tried to use translator to chat with us. Really nice experience.

What a fantastic stay - super luxurious, with a beautiful suite and onsen, superb food, and the most attentive and friendly staff. The location is great, with beautiful beaches within walking distance. Will be making sure I stay here again next time I visit Japan.

Love love love the food here. If you're a seafood lover like me you have to get the half board option for this hotel. The private outdoor onsen is also a nice touch. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I happen to come around this area
