Mishima is a diamond 💎. It was one of the most beautiful places I visited in Japan. The gardens, clear water streams, beautiful people, wonderful parks with animal petting zoo make this area a magnificent visit. Being on the doorstep of Mt Fuji it’s easy to catch public transport up the mountain. If you are looking for a top notch Japanese kitchen knife to take home, visit 3 waves. They have a great range of knives, higher quality than specialist stores in Tokyo or Kyoto with prices much lower than everywhere else I looked in Japan. Most people head to the Sky Walk, but if you want to avoid the crowds and view some lovely scenery head to Yamanaka Castle Ruins. Mishima was a stopover for our travel between Kawaguchiko and Kyoto. We took a 80 min coach ride from Kawaguchiko to Mishima Station. It was convenient to get on the Shinkansen to Kyoto the next day. There’s a 7-Eleven only 50 meters from the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel offers all the services you might need, including a complimentary aperitif with wine and other drinks.
