Myoko is an incredible region of fun, the mountains offer heaps of ski resorts with fantastic runs, lessons, places to dine and sit with a hot beverage or refreshen beer or sake. Its wonderful for both families and those who are daring to hit the slopes for thrills. The hotel shuttles, local buses and taxis make travel from resort to various slopes, very easy. The locals are exceptionally helpful and friendly.

The snow in Myoko is otherworldly.

The snow in Myoko is otherworldly. The powder is unimaginably great and really loved visiting Seki Onsen Ski Area. It's a small, family-owned ski area run by the Inoue Family who are the kindest and most hospitable people you'll find anywhere in Japan. Family-owned and run ski areas are in decline with large corporations buying up ski areas across Japan, so it was a real treat to ski at an area where the snow was perfect and you're supporting a local business. 10 our 10 for Seki Onsen Ski Area!

Ski areas vary considerably in the area.

Ski areas vary considerably in the area. Akakura Onsen has absolutely the worst lifts i have experienced in Japan. When they weren't broken down they were extremely slow. On the other hand Suginohara has a new gondola and modern 'high' speed lifts. This was the pick of the mountains to ski for me.

It was our first time coming to Myoko.

It was our first time coming to Myoko. We will definately be coming back. The snow here is next level amazing especially if you are snowboarding. The people are very lovely and friendly. The food could be better as in more fresh.

Myokokogen is a great spot for skiing and snowboarding.

Myokokogen is a great spot for skiing and snowboarding. Most hotels come with their own onsens. As for ski resorts, Suginohara has more advanced terrain, followed by Akakura Kanko (top part), Ikenotaira Alpen Blick and finally Akakura Onsen. Seki onsen is a small but great option on deep powder days. Lotte Arai (advanced terrain) is a 30-min drive from Akakura onsen. As for apres ski, Akakura Onsen is the only option. Lots of restaurants and bars on the main street. Sekigawa (Ikenotaira area) and Suginosawa (Suginohara area) are quite sleepy, and deserted at times.

We went to Myoko for the snow and we got the snow!

We went to Myoko for the snow and we got the snow! Loved the long ski runs at Suginohara and skiied there 3 days. Also skied one day each at Ikenotaura Onsen and Seki Onsen. Low visibility killed us! Be prepared to ski in low cloud and less groomed tracks. Lime Resort Onsen was fantastic. Local restaurants (Chinese, Japanese and Greek) were great food and value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay at Seifuso, recently renovated from what was a traditional japanese place to have some more modern features. The room was so big with a toilet and sink, and communal shower. Japanese lady called Ritsuko who cooked you breakfast every morning was so lovely and kind and took us to the train station. Tim who managed the place was awesome, helped with anything we needed and gave us good recommendations around town. we’d definitely stay again next time we come to myoko!

Property was in a great location. Only a few minutes walk from town. The hotel is run by the nicest old Japanese couple. She gives you beers on an arrival which was so nice. Rooms are spacey and comfy. Overall amazing place to stay and would stay again.

AA has a very friendly and exceptionally helpful staff. It's very clean and tidy, recently renovated. AA is very well located in the centre of Myoko Kogen, close to shops and restaurants. Also it's very close to transport, shuttle bus is just nearby.

Average stay with basic amenities but it was quite an experience in a seemingly old town that’s only operational in winter. Although communication can be a problem, hotel staffs and people were helpful.

The location was great, the bottom of the slopes was a 10 minute walk, and Myoko Kogen is stunning. The property was a traditional style Japanese b&b and the rooms were huge and very clean.
