I liked the room's design, corridors, and lobby ( I admit that is mainly why I booked this place over all other options). We were lucky to get a space on one of the top floors, and an exceptional view of the city and mountains was there, too. A big supermarket is located close by, approximately the same distance (but in a different direction) as the station. The staff at the reception allowed other people to watch a sports match on the TV in the lobby, where vast and comfortable couches are located. That was nice of them. In the hall was also a free coffee and tea stand, which is always nice to have, even if you have a kettle in the room. Outside the building was a locker room, which saved trouble finding a free locker at the station.

We booked this hotel because it was close to Toshogu shrine in expectation to attend a festival there. Everything was great! The receptionist was very nice and helpful. There is a good onsen for guests. Nice lounge to sit for a complimentary cup of coffee. 10 meters a way from a bus station that is well connected to Tobu-Nikko station (included in the Nikko pass). Even when we had a malfunction with our toilet, it got fixed real quick and the host was quick to offer some drinks as compensation.

The service and care of the staff is outstanding, they were very polite nice and helpful and the dinner felt like an authentic Japanese meal with variation every night and a vast amount of dishes, you can always find enough things you like even if you are not into the Japanese style meals. The room was clean and big, spacious and well worth the money. The view and the atmosphere in and around the hotel is calm and quiet and there is a shrine right down the street. We loved it and we're very satisfied with our decision to book 3 nights here.

We were expecting a fine hotel experience for our trip to Nikko but experienced so much more at the Ritz Carlton. Elevated, serene, beautiful facilities and accommodations along with one superlative food experience, made for one of our favorite stays anywhere, ever. Both of our rooms were wonderful, but the suite was just wonderful. All of the food was very good during our stay, but our omakase experience - our favorite sushi ever and one of our favorite meals ever. (For what it's worth, I have never used 'ever' so often in a review) Consistently friendly, helpful staff as well. This is a unique and special place and I fully expect that we'll retreat here again on future trips to Tokyo.

Nikko proved to be an amazing refuge from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, that was much needed. I visited in early September during a heatwave, and the elevation of Nikko and thus slightly lower temperatures made the stay incredibly refreshing. The temples, lake, waterfalls and the entire area were amazing to discover and very well connected with local public transportation.

The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip.

The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip. If you travel on to Takayama I recommend seeing the one tenth scale model of the shrine complex which is almost unbelievable in its detail and precision. Nikko is quite a sleepy town and many restaurants shut very early so I recommend making a reservation. The Nikko pass is worth purchasing, we enjoyed a day sightseeing on the local buses and trains. We had an outstanding dinner at Global Table, located on the Main Street in Nikko, well worth booking this for an unforgettable experience with Chef Ishida.

Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical.

Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical. The town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful forests and breathtaking waterfalls I’ve ever seen. Every corner feels like stepping into a postcard—lush, serene, and full of natural wonder. The town itself has such charm, with its cozy streets, warm hospitality, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. We stayed for three nights, which gave us time to explore, but we truly wish we had stayed longer. There’s so much more to see and experience, and the beauty of the area leaves you wanting to return.

We walked to the Togoshu Shrine; make sure you're prepared for uphill walks and a lot of stairs. The Main Street leading to the shrine was amazing. A ton of food vendors and restaurants. We took the bus to Kegon Falls. The ride was spectacular through the mountains and the village at the top was a pleasant surprise.

Touristy, somewhat charmless town that is nevertheless worth it for the magnificent shrines (Shinto, and the resting places of the first and third shoguns) and temples (Buddhist) and the museum (splurge on the museum! Seriously). Many people go to see these buildings + the red bridge (which is merely fine - short and not really noteworthy), but don't venture to the outskirts of Nikko to take in the other sites (Kanmangafuchi Abyss, Botanical Garden, Tamozawa Imperial Villa and much more impressive Nikko Dainichi Bridge).

Romantic Nikko Escape with My Husband~The cherry blossoms at this hotel were absolutely stunning! Soaking in the enormous outdoor jacuzzi on our balcony was *unbelievably* relaxing. We were even treated to complimentary fresh fruits and delicious BBQ – such a wonderful surprise! We heard autumn brings spectacular maple foliage here, so we’ll *definitely* be coming back when the leaves turn red.

Washing machines/dryers are available for a small fee. Huge parking in front of the hotel. Location is a bit away from Nikko center but it's walkable, so it was a plus for us.
