We really enjoyed camping midway through our Japan trip! The campground is well set up and we had everything we needed to ensure a cozy stay. They provided sleeping bags in addition to regular bedding since it was a cold night (on top of heaters). They also have a lot of kitchen items for use which was fun to choose from! The addition of the deck and foot onsen during sunset was spectacular! The food that we arranged was great! We would stay here again.

This was a really special place to have had the chance to stay in. Beautiful old building with so many original features and character (paper sliding walls, futons, tatami mats). It was a total contrast to modern identikit hotels and a great opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese wooden home whilst on the Nakasendo trail. Our pre-ordered dinner (chicken hot pot) was amazing and the simple breakfast was ready to help ourselves to in the little kitchen. Wish we could have stayed longer. The manager was so welcoming.

Beautiful, spacious and well equipped ryokan all to ourselves. Takashi-San, our gracious host, also owns the Cafe next door and an amazing collection of records. We had dinner there and the curry and carbonara he prepared were delicious. Plus he played some beautiful music from the 70’s. The ryokan is fully equipped , well heated and the futon beds were extremely comfortable. Takashi san even gave us water bottles to warm the beds at night. We slept so well. We were only two and could not believe we had this huge beautiful house to ourselves. Takashi-san is an attentive host : he provided juice, snacks , water , coffee , tea etc all free. It is such a quiet and relaxing place off the beaten tracks.

The house is amazing, I was sad that I only spent one night there, it was a great experience to stay in a Japanese house, Assi was very friendly and welcoming, made me feel at home, helped me to get a restaurant as I arrived late, and gave suggestion for my breakfast next morning.I definitely recommend this place. Every single thing in this place is beautiful with the most wonderfully designed restoration work I’ve ever seen. The owners clearly love and care for this place and have done everything to make it welcoming for guests. We absolutely loved it. We hiked from the door to Tsumago down the Nakasendo trail and got the bus back. We got most meals from the grocery shop 50m away. The location across from the train makes it perfect for getting around. We loved our stay!
