Great location, 10min walking to the bamboo forest and temple. Get there early, this makes a big difference in crowd sizes in these very touristic places. Go further north for quieter and just as beautiful temples / areas. Helpful host and super useful parking space in kyoto. Plenty of space in the house for a family.

This hotel has been one of the best we’ve stayed at in Kyoto. Not only is the location great, but the staff also go out their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. It was beautiful! Was great coming home from a long day out to a clean and comfortable oasis. Gym facility has everything you need and their staff are very friendly. Laundromat had a number of machines and staff were prompt to empty any unattended machines if notified. The rooms were spacious and so luxurious

We loved our stay at Asai Kyoto Shijo. Very well located close to the center as well as to the station. The breakfast was good. The personnel was very nice and attentive. And most importantly, we loved our room and the kimonos as pyjamas!

Very nice hotel with large rooms and a really nice staff. We had 4 nights there and I think it was the right choice for the January time due to very good location - most of interesting sites are close enough and due to sauna in the room which helped to get warm after a cold walking day.

    The location was ideal for sightseeing, and if we could have stayed longer we would. The proximity to Arashiyama was ideal with kids. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The pictures of the property are very accurate and our stay exceeded our expectations.
