Woodland Sanctuary is a truly magical place to stay. The villas are beautifully designed with elevated, barrel-shaped rooms, spacious decks, and open-air tropical bathrooms that allow you to enjoy nature while maintaining privacy. The pool is perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring. Maleesha, the host, is incredible—attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He went out of his way to arrange an unforgettable private safari that gave us a close-up experience of the local wildlife, as well as an authentic Ayurvedic spa treatment that left us feeling completely rejuvenated. Our stay at Pearl in the Jungle was nothing short of amazing! The private pool was a luxurious touch, and the cozy jungle setting made for such a tranquil escape. We had an amazing stay at the Sundown Lake Hotel! The owners were very supportive, kind and just lovely people. The view from every cabin down to the lake is great and the very clean pool area makes it even easier to enjoy the stay. The breakfast is very nice - you‘ll get some traditional Sri Lankan breakfast dishes too. We also had dinner every night and it was some of the best food we had on our whole trip in Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave this beautiful place! Thank you to Sasini, Anjana and Mahinda for everything!

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our incredible hosts, Madhu, her husband and Komari. The hotel is nestled in a beautiful, calm location with a spice garden, created by our lovely hosts, outside of busy and loud Habarana. The room was clean and spacious with a balcony, modern aircondition and very good water pressure. A short swimming in the pool in the morning was a fantastic way to start a long, hot day. It is just a short walk from the property. They are building a pool on the property right now (september 2025). The food was absolutely delicious — authentic Sri Lankan flavors at it's best. Madhu and Komari are great cooks and prepared all kinds of delicious traditional dishes with so much knowledge and love. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner for five days and they were happy to show us the incredible variety of Srilankan food. Certainly the best food experience we had on our trip! What truly made the experience special was their extraordinary kindness and hospitality. They did everything to make us feel like home. Thank you and ayubowan, Madhu and her kind husband, Komari and the rest of the crew, for making our trip so memorable. We hope to come back to this wonderful place. Highly recommended!

Sky Forest Lovely hotel in the forest, away from the noise of the highway. We had a lovely big room on stilts, overlooking the forest. Lots of birds, lots of privacy, super balcony to watch nature passing by. People are friendly, helpful and speak good English. The help in any way they can and organize walks in the vicinity. Meals are excellent.

Great location in the middle of a really timy village, completely surrounded by nature. The nicest host family, who made everything to make our stay comfortable. We had wonderful dinner and breakfast. Really calm and beautiful place. Beautiful clean room with hot water. We really recommend renting a bike and biking to the Ritigala mountain.

Good location to visit the National parks where Elephants roam. Take a short drive to Ritigala and be amazed at the heritage site of a millenia old large forest monastery. Dine at the Ran Rasa restaurant for one of the best Chicken Koththus you will taste..

Beautiful jungle surrounds. Lots of activities. Safari doesn't tell you about all the extra costs involved. Entry fee big. Tip for animal spotter. The Harabana lake cruise is brilliant. No motor just a gentle paddle, allowing you get up close to wildlife

There are loads to do in Habarana.

There are loads to do in Habarana. Nice places to eat and drink. One unexpected pleasure was the village safari. You go for a ride on a old tractor, then a lovely boat ride across the lake. You are then shown the old traditional way of preparing and make food. Also shown other local crafts.

We went to this area and stayed at the Cinnamon Habarana...

We went to this area and stayed at the Cinnamon Habarana Village for 2 noghts. This gave us time to visit Pidirangula the rock opposite Sigiyeria Rock, Polonuwara ruins, Minneriya Safari parks and a couple of village tours to see how locaal live and eat. These village tours I would recommend as you get to try local curries made by the villagers which are authentic. Pidurangula is the same height as Lions Rock but a quarter of the price. The only thing you miss out on is seeing the ruins at the top of the ancient civilisation. Minneriya was fantastic. We did this as a last minute decision as we were advised there were more elephants here than in the Yala Safari park which we had already booked to visit in the south. We were so glad we did this as there were plenty of elephants to see and capture on camera. The ruins around this area are a plenty and definitely worth visiting as they are centuries old and date back to when Buddha came into the country. When visiting any ruins or temples men musat wear a sarong to cover their knees and women have to cover their shoulders and knees. Wearing t shirts and 3/4 linen trousers are ideal. We had a private tour guide with his car that we hired for an 8 day tour so he knew where to go, and came with us at each attraction. Would recommend touring Sri Lanka in this manner and using Madhu of Nesi Tours Srilanka. He is able to help with itineraries and pricing. We had a fabulous trip in this beautiful country with

Dilani is an incerdibly wonderful host! Breakfast is amazing and the dinner we enjoyed at Jungle shades villa was incredibly good and tasty! Jungle Shades villa is in the cenre of Habarana and very close to everything. Nevertheless it is a little bit beside the main road what makes it even better! We would always come back if we visit the area again! Thank you so much Dilani🙏!

The staff are amazing and make this hotel which only had 3 cabins extra special .loved the uniqueness of the property and the outside bathroom was a novelty. The staff are so helpful anything you want arranged they do and the food she makes is great - best meal we had in habarana . The view is simply breathtaking and the wildlife around you is stunning

Dudley's Nature Resort is a fantastic base for exploring the area. The pool is amazing, and the location is great. We particularly enjoyed Dudley's Sri Lankan curry buffet – the best we've had so far. The resort is surrounded by a lush garden filled with wildlife, making it a truly magical place to stay.
