The Cottage isn’t just a hotel. It’s a retreat. A sanctuary. A secret you stumble into that quietly rearranges your idea of what peace and hospitality should feel like. This place is pure soul medicine. The oversized wooden cabins are stunning — larger than most city studios, with four-poster beds, huge bathrooms, and private terraces surrounded by trees. A pool sits just below your steps, and breakfast is served beside the river. Turn right to reach the beach road’s bars and shops; turn left into town to meet kind locals. But what truly makes this magical is the people. Rafi goes above and beyond with genuine care and kindness. He brought an umbrella to shelter me during a rain shower. He helped arrange tuk-tuks, shopping, and even welcomed me into his beautiful village. That day will stay with me. Chuti’s cooking is out of this world — soulful curries cooked to perfection. Asanka, Cha, and the rest of the team are warm, intuitive, and quietly brilliant. Returning to your cottage feels like the fairies have been — everything clean, calm, and glowing. It’s the kind of place that makes you breathe deeper, sleep better, and believe in the goodness of people again. I travel a lot. I’m extremely picky. And I can say — from Monte Carlo to Mauritius — this is in my top three stays anywhere in the world. The Cottage is family, nature, care, and calm wrapped into one unforgettable experience. Places like this aren’t found — they find you. And they stay with you.

Amazing host and neat property. Mosquito nets provided and air-con made it a comfortable stay. There is an oven, good pots and a washing machine. A short walk to the beach and nearby restaurants, but easy to get around by tuk tuk too. Keels and Cargills about 1.4km walk away (or tuk tuk). We would stay again.

I had a quick stop over and stayed at Ralph residency only for a day but I can easily say that it was a great decision! The hosts went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and confortable. From pick up to the airport (with my delayed flight) to showing me the surroundings and exchange interesting fact of the area, I can only recommend to stop by there for a short or long time!

Fantastic little boutique hotel in Negombo. Staff was very attentive and helpful, the hotel it self felt very clean and comfortable, - really good pillows and beds. We also loved the breakfast and the swimming pool area, highly recommended.

Steps is a beautiful spot surrounded by native plants that emerge you in the best greenery of Sri Lanka. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help. They even provided Sri Lankan breakfast on request. The rooms are beautifully built.

This little paradise right on the lagoon is the best place to arrive in Sri Lanka! After a long flight, the beautiful garden with pool is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Isha and her team are incredibly warm, courteous and attentive. We can highly recommend having dinner at the accommodation. Isha cooked Sri Lankan food, which was absolutely delicious and outstanding. The rooms are very clean and equipped with everything we needed. We can only recommend this accommodation and would come again.
