We had an amazing time at Animals! We loved it here so much we doubled our stay because the place is just a dream. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in the "budget rooms" at first, which is just 10 seconds from the pool and dining area. Even though it's called a budget room, it's spacious & very well maintained and has a lovely garden, and the rooms have a large bathroom, a dressing and a terrace. The other days we spend in the double rooms in the main building which are like you're staying inside of a Pinterest moodboard. We got the privilege to meet the Swedish couple who owns the hotel & designed it into an absolute gem. They are just the best people, we talked for many hours & went surfing with them & learned so much about Swedish & Sri Lankan life during our talks. The breakfast included has so many options tot choose from and the coffees are actually the best we had in Sri Lanka. If you would be unfortunate that there is no room available in the hotel, do yourself a favour and come have lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed! Even though we travelled a lot and visited so much nice hotels & resorts, we never had the same experience like we had at Animals! We stayed in the villa at the top, which offered a stunning view thanks to the large panoramic doors and windows. We stayed in Room 19, which turned out to be spacious and cozy. It had all the necessary amenities: air conditioning, a comfortable bed and mattress (just like home), new beautiful and comfortable furniture, nice bathroom with a large shower, a bidet, and a washing machine. We were pleased to have a kitchen, a refrigerator, and household items. The territory is simply magnificent, it was looked after every day, the place is full of beautiful trees where birds sing and build nests. You can see how grows mango, papaya, lime, bamboo, etc. It’s like a paradise. There’s also a pool on the premises. It was nice to dip in and spend time there. Staff:  The first thing that comes to mind about the staff is their smiles and politeness. I thank everyone who works in this place for their kindness and friendliness. Sasini always tried to assist us with any inquiries: helping with little requests, organizing excursions, and you could talk to her about the culture and traditions in Sri Lanka. She was very responsive and kind, even giving me a small gift to remember our stay. Driver Sandaru was always friendly and quickly took us to the necessary places in a tuk-tuk. He recommended visit a turtle hatchery and took us to nice beaches: Dalawela Beach and Jungle Beach, which are not far from the villa. He even gifted us some incense, it was nice. Every 3-4 days, we were offered cleaning, and they vacuumed, changed the sheets, towels, and wiped all surfaces and mirrors. However, you could also request cleaning earlier if needed. Breakfast was included in the price: A buffet was offered mostly local food, but it was always varied. One day my wife mentioned that she likes the Aralia flower, and later the staff presented it to her just like that, it was a very kind and nice gesture.

This place is just heaven!! So gorgeous, comfortable and well taken care off. Beds are really good, and the rooms have everything you need. You don't hear traffic, yet it isn't far from the beach. Staff is really friendly, and the food is great (yummie breakfast!).. This was the vacation in our vacation!

Villa 73 was very good place to stay in Unawatuna. Rooms are big and clean. Breakfast was delicious and you can choose western or sri lankan breakfast. The staff were so kind and helpful. Big thanks for taking care of us!

Of the 8 accommodations I stayed at when in Sri Lanka, this was my favourite. Driving in and getting that initial view of a lush green garden with inviting pool was so memorable, and was complimented by reception/ general staff who were pleasant. Loved my room. Breakfast was generous.

The owners of this hotel are wonderful the staff are lovely and friendly, the rooms are spacious with very comfy beds and sofas. Wi-Fi is outstanding. Swimming pool huge. Omelettes are perfect and great coffee. Monkeys can be seen in the trees from the garden and the location is perfect it sits only a short walk from jungle beach which has a great restaurant and the beach is beautiful and the village on Unawatuna with loads of amazing beach restaurants and little shops.

We had an exceptional stay at Tri by Amaya. We stayed in a Lake Pool Villa and the room was perfect with a lovely pool. The staff were incredible - nothing was too much to ask. It's a unique boutique style hotel which has been carefully designed to offer complete privacy. The on site restaurant offers delicious food (the Sri Lankan curry and kottu is a must), amazing breakfast either at the restaurant or brought to your room. The coffee is worth mentioning as amazing! We made use of the spa which was great, a yoga session, in a gorgeous shala, sundowners at the water tower and dinner in the restaurant and in our room. It was the perfect escape and we couldn't recommend this location with Shane and his team highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing stay!
