Mexicali is a cute dessert town that keeps on growing despite its very hot and dry weather. Originally the lands that saw the crossing of the Cucapah, Cochimi, Kumeyaay, Pai Pai, Kiliwas and others accross the Californias without border. Mexicali has thrived culturally and its people are warm, kind and generous. Despite road infrastructure can be a challenge, it is an active place, unique cuisine that has integrated Chinese gastronomy. Their imput due to migrating waves from the 1800s has made a mark on the landscape of Mexicali. Healthy food and lifestyle continue to elevate Mexicali 'a must' destination holiday. Its Majestic Rumorosa with capricious rock formations makes this place memorable. All around there is something for you, whether you are vegetarian or carnivorous, carne asada is just delicious and la ruta del vino, only 1.20 min away offers a unique experience. We were on our way home so we didn't really plan for time in Mexicali. The hotel was very good and safe. We used the google maps app to get to the border. Do not follow this app. It took us to the sentri lane which we had to turn around in. Sentri is for those with special passes. The room did not look very clean, the klenex box was used (I have a photo) it seemed like they had taken the box from the trash. I went to search them and let them know I took them. aha and they never replaced it. Just two sizes in the bathroom, hair rinse was born. I think next time we will opt for Fiesta Inn.
