Loved my time in SMA, was there for a week with a group of friends. We did a Walking Tour with Follow Me Tours (Jalal is the best tour guide I've ever had, anywhere, high praise I know, but try to book with her if you can). We went to the Botanical Gardens and would highly recommend a trip there. Dos Buhos for a tour of a vineyard and wine tasting is hard to beat. La Aurora is very cool - it was a fabric factory and is now this very awesome collection of shops, art galleries and sculptures. There are also restaurants. And we went to Los Senderos which is more of a beach club if you're into something a little fancy for an afternoon. They have paddle boarding and different pools to swim in, and it was relaxing and lovely. Did not make it to La Gruta for hot springs, but heard it's great, next time (I will be back)! But mostly you'll want to walk around Zona Centro, the heart of San Miguel de Allende. There's always something happening. While we were there there was a food festival and there were also many artists displaying artwork and vendors with beautiful jewelry. The people we met were so warm and wonderful. It's a very special city, cobblestone streets and incredible architecture. You definitely feel like you're in a little European town, but with the beautiful Mexican culture flowing everywhere.

The people are the biggest attraction.

The people are the biggest attraction. They are friendly and will go out of their way if you do not speak Spanish. Politeness and patience are given and expected. Condescending Americans offend their gentle and accepting spirit. We spent a week, and it was a lifetime too short.

San Miguel de Allende has existed since the 1400s, so there is no shortage of rich history here. From the narrow and winding cobblestone streets to the beautiful architecture and art, to some of the friendliest people I've ever met, San Miguel de Allende is among one of the most amazing places I've had the pleasure to visit.

This is one of the most charming towns I have ever visited. The weather is perfect everyday, the locals are very friendly and the restaurants are great. I can see why so many people are deciding to retire there.

The main draw is the town square where the Church is located. If you give yourself 3 hours you can see it all. Not much else, just shops and restaurants. Most people are ex pats or weekenders parading around in their country club best. Go to Guanajuato instead!

    Incredibly beautiful and clean.

Incredibly beautiful and clean. Fabulous place to take pictures, shop and eat. Walking around the lovely city was fun for a day or two. Not sure what else one does here? If you visit, I recommend an historical tour, as the city does have a very interesting past:) I was happy to return to my younger more active home in Puerto Escondido.

Visiting from the United Kingdom. The location of Casa Maracaya is excellent, a short stroll to the center of San Miguel de Allende with some lovely art, craft, boutiques and coffee along the way and with limited parking this hotel makes for a pleasant stay and base for the magical city. The night duty manager was friendly and helpful when required due to some unfortunate incidents regarding door locks.

We love this charming boutique hotel in San Miguel Allende and are frequent visitors. Our room was super comfortable (as always) and we love using the kitchen to prepare a meal. Breakfast is usually included and is delicious. The staff is very friendly and we are grateful to Uriel for his always professional and kind attentions. I highly recommend staying at Casa Camilla in San Miguel.

Located in the best area of town, the hotel is architecturally modern, warm, and has an understated glamour that you can feel from the second you walk through the doors. The staff is wonderful; from the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home. The rooftop restaurant is a gorgeous spot from which to enjoy the sun set over beautiful San Miguel de Allende.

Peaceful and quiet hostel. Very friendly owner. The hostel is at a central and safe, quiet neighborhood. From my understanding it's the only hostel in San Miguel de Allende. Towels provided. Also free water refill. Breakfast was great. The patio is very nice to relax or have a chat with others.

A great boutique style hotel a short walk along very narrow footpaths to the centre of town. Very nice breakfast. I enjoyed my colourful room and slept very well (no ear plugs!!!).
