After being kept awake by barking dogs over 10 sleepless nights in Kathmandu’s Thamel zone, I decided to go upmarket for 5 days in a location away from the noise and pollution. Purna’s photos make it look like a typical Indian pseudo palace hotel, but the hotel is in reality more elegant and refined. The owner’s main business is renovating historic Nepali temples in the traditional style, and the hotel showcases the woodwork the traditional Newari style, including its own small museum of carved artefacts. The carpentry throughout varies from very fine to rather rough and ready, but it feels authentic to the vernacular of ancient Nepal. The hotel is spread across several buildings at different levels surrounding garden enclosures, and includes a swimming pool. The view looks over Kathmandu city from a high vantage point. It’s on the outskirts of the built-up region of Kathmandu and Patan, and mostly free of traffic and barking dogs. The room was nicely appointed. The commodious breakfast plate included both a continental array – juice, coffee, fruit salad, porridge with honey, plus toast, butter & jam & a combined full English breakfast - omelette, sausages, baked beans, fried tomato & salad. The coffee is fine. The lunch/supper options have very reasonable prices. The service was exemplary – kind and courteous! Worth visiting: To escape the hubbub, Godawari Botanical Gardens is definitely worth a visit - feels very natural with families dancing on the lawns to Nepalese folk music and children splashing in the streams. 20min taxi drive – recommend the Pathao app to book cars or bikes at a cheaper rate. Sirupate Trout Farm Restaurant, 15mins drive. The trout is fresh straight from the farm water troughs beside the restaurant – Cost 1800NR per kg ($13 or £10). 1/2kg was big enough for 2. Don't confuse venue with 'Village Trout Farm' situated 200m before Sirupate's location.

The hotel is new and has everything you need. Rooms are spacious and has a luxurious touch to it. They have a restaurant at the ground floor where the free breakfast is served. It is a great place to meet and mingle with other guests. Room service is also available in case guests want to order from the restuarant. Breakfast was buffet and has everything you need to start your day. Bread, rice, meat, veggies and fruits, juices and coffee/tea, cereals, pancakes etc. The staff were amazing! Very friendly and will cater to every request you would have. The location was perfect! Just a few minutes from the Thamel Square where the action is. (You can find a lot of Japanese, Korean, Chinese restaurants in the Thamel Square. Souvenir shops are also there.) One-time pick up OR drop off from the airport is an added bonus that I have never experienced before and saved me effort and money. And... they have a weighing scale at the reception to check your baggage! How cool and usueful is that. Above all, the hotel manager, Mr Ganga is the best! He goes out of his way to make sure his guests feel welcomed, are comfortable, and having a great time. I had a private tour on my second day, got lost somehow, and when I couldn't contact the driver, he went out of his way and picked me up in his scooter so that I could meet the driver. I've been to quite a few hotels in different countries and Magnificent Hotel in Kathmandu is definitely one of the top 3 hotels I've been. Thanks to everyone especially Mr Ganga for making my stay in Nepal a memorable one.

First of all, the communication with the hotel was very smooth before the arrival. They arranged us a taxi transfer which was on time. Secondly, the checking in was super nice, they welcomed us with drinks and all the useful information about the hotel, facilities and the room we booked. Helped us with everything we needed that day, considering we were super tired after a long flight. Also, during all of our stay the staff was beyond nice. The hotel manager was very helpful, considering that this was our first time in Nepal: he helped us with tours around the city, gave all the necessary info about the area we were staying, always was very mindful and caring. The room was very comfortable and nice: clean and spacious bathroom, huge and very comfortable bed and beautiful paintings on the walls. The view from the balcony was great, and also the hotel has a panoramic trace on the roof for even better views. Also, they have small gym on the roof top with amazing city views. So if you are staying for a longer time - this is a really great advantage. The hotel itself is in a very good place: we had all the best restaurants, shops and coffee places just around the corner, max 10 minutes walk by feet. We would definitely stay in this hotel again and recommend in for others. Because we tried other well rated hotel and it was not even comparable to Everest Boutique Hotel. I am really glad we picked this hotel for our stay in Kathmandu. :)

Every single member of staff I met was amazing. Genuinely some of the nicest people I've ever met. The hotel was very clean and would be ideal for solo travellers or couples (possibly families too). It's a 1 minute walk away from Thamel which is the main "tourist" area of the city.. but a 5 minute walk in the opposite direction you will get some amazing small local spots with the best "momo" (the most popular local/national food. Essentially dumplings with different fillings) but anyway..the location is ideal. its close to everything but still in a calm and quiet area. I had the most amazing chats every day with Abhi, the hotel supervisor/manager. An absolute gentleman who would go over and beyond in every way for a guest. But all the staff were the same. I only ate breakfast in the hotel and usually stuck to the same (American Style). But it was always very good. The guys would gladly give you some extra food etc if you wanted. I didn't eat other food from the restaurant as I was eating out and about but I'm sure it is all great. They were also great in regards to laundry services. I would definitely recommend this hotel for any backpackers, solo travellers or couples.

An amazing hotel to stay in, very friendly staff, quite clean rooms which're well decorated and equipped with neccessities the guests might need to use during their stay. Before staying at Oasis hotel, I stayed in another 'best rated' hotel within Thamel area, unfortunately I left that hotel on the second day given the fact it was too noisy all the times due to its location. I picked Oasis hotel due to its excellent reviews, relaxing environment and excellent qualities for a comfortable stay at compatative rates. The hotel is close enough to all the attractions in Kathmandu including Thamel. I indeed enjoyed each moment of my stay at Oasis. The hotel manager is a highly dedicated professional who personally ensures that all the guests are enjoying a comfortable stay at the hotel. It is quite rare to see a manager somtimes performs housekeeping etc. tasks himself to motivate other colleagues and to ensure standards are well maintained. The receiptionist is also a professional and friendly staff who's always there to assist the guests if they need some assistance. Breakfast was superb with lots of items to select from! I'd definately stay at Oasis hotel during my next visit to Nepal and hotel would maintain the same levels of standards!

Amazing hostel! 3 stars hotel and for very low price you can get excellent with AC. very near the tamel but much more relax! highly recommended. Very friendly and helpful staff. enjoy..
