Gerda & Twan’s place is amazing! we felt so comfortable there. It was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was wonderful! It is such a peaceful setting…waking up and seeing adorable goats grazing outside your window is just so special. And we were so happy we got to meet the sweet cats! We would absolutely stay here again if we are ever back in New Zealand and will recommend it to our friends and family. Thank you Gerda & Twan!!!

Quaint and in the heart of Hobbiton country, this cottage was ideal! Location was perfect! With beds that were as comfortable as beds from back home, this cottage has it all. The host is very quick to respond and attentive. A welcome loaf of bread, butter and milk to welcome you to your own little cottage was a slice of heaven. I would come back again and again. The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set.

The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set. This is an amazing experience, our second trip. Have done both the lunch & dinner experience. Food, staff & experience rate a 10. Had a great meal at Sofra, food & staff were great. Breakfast at The Rich Coffee Cafe was nice and the staff were ok. Visited the I-Centre too and found the staff to be helpful.

Matamata was a complete surprise.

Matamata was a complete surprise. We ate at 4 different restaurants and each place had friendly staff and good selections on the menus. The information centre staff were wonderful and very helpful. Hobbiton exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be returning to Matamata

Matamata is a nice little town with the usual array of shops...

Matamata is a nice little town with the usual array of shops and some good eating places. Of course its access to Hobbiton, which was the purpose of our trip, but enjoyed a pleasant evening eating fish n chips in the wooded, shaded park area by the Isite.

We were in Matamata for a wedding at Hobbiton which was a great experience for us, even though we are not Lord of the Rings fans. Plenty of places to dine and from Maple Lodge was an easy walk into the main centre of town.

Location was excellent for Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves visit! We could walk to a lovely (and very yummy) coffee shop each morning and a fun brew pub at night. There were other restaurants on the street, but one was having a private party and another was fully booked. If you’re looking for super luxury travel vibe, it’s very hard to find in this area, my friend who is a pretty posh gal was a bit worried. However the Broadway Motel was IMMACULATELY clean, spacious, and very welcoming. We both were very please and highly recommend it!

Accommodation was in a separate flat to the main residence. It was compact, cozy and very comfortable. You had private access to flat and on-site parking. The host 'Linda' was very helpful and easy to communicate with. The location made it very easy to explore the countryside around Matamata and to visit the Hobbiton attraction. Continental breakfast provided.

Lovely hosts and lovely little unit. Felt like home rather than a hotel. Very clean. Washing machine was a bonus. Appreciated the breakfast items like cereal and milk when travelling around with a little one and often pressed for time. Would stay again! Only 15 minutes away from Hobbiton which was perfect after a long day there!

Hana, the lady that was cleaning the motel, was so nice. Nothing was a bother for her. She helped us when we needed it. She'd only worked there a week, and it would have been a struggle without her. She helped make up for the motels deficiencies. She made the stay so much better. Shower pressure was great
