My family and I really loved the hotel and the Family Suite. They did not wish to leave as we feeling so much at home. The location of your hotel is also one of your greatest assets as it is so picturesque and set in a breathtaking location. Te Anau being the gateaway for Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Otago is also the icing on the cake. We have a tremendous and fun filled time. Thank you so much. October. We stayed at Te Anau 2 nights. It's a great little town ,very pretty with tulips and rhododendrons flowering. Middle day we drove to Milford Sound and back . This definitely is a 2hr drive each way . Would be more in busy times due to traffic or if very wet. If you don't travel to Fjordlands region you are missing a lot! After checkout we then drove to Manapouri 15 mins away-this is the departure point- as we had an overnight stay booked on The Navigator in Doubtful Sound - Definitely recommend this.

A very pretty little town on Lake Te Anau, with the snow covered mountains of Fiorland National Park as the back drop. Plenty of eateries many right on the lake. Supermarkets and specialty shops. Beautiful walks. Hiking trails if you're looking for that. Jaw droppingly beautiful scenery everywhere. A 2 hour drive to Milford Sound or take a bus tour. Tours from Queenstown stop off in Te Anau to collect passengers & drop back on return trip. This was what we did and it was so much easier than travelling all the way from Queenstown. Te Anau is a nice and worthwhile drive from Invercargill. We just loved Te Anau. It was all and more that I'd hoped for!

Te Anau is a beautiful town, set on the shores of a lake, with close access to Milford and Doubtful Sounds. The main shopping centre offers lots of different restaurants and take away options. There is also a big supermarket for supplies. There is a lovely gift shop in Te Anau, as well.9

What a delightful little town!

What a delightful little town! The glow worm caves were an absolute highlight, especially with the stunning waterfall inside—such a magical experience. The town is clean, walkable, and full of charming little shops and scenic walks. Plus, the grocery store was top-notch for anything you might need. I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem!

We ended up staying at the Tasman holiday park, the bed was so much more comfortable and the manager there was so lovely. Te Anau was a great spot to see the glow worm caves, which was our highlight and we drove to do the Milford sound and it was a beautiful drive, which took about 2 hours both ways. There’s some lovely cafes and restaurants, gift shops and supermarkets. The bird sanctuary to se the Takahe was also a great stop.

I really enjoyed our stay in Te Anau. It's a beautiful town. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Great location to stay for a night or two if you are going to do the Milford track or do any of the attractions in the Milford Sound and surrounding area. I would definitely stay at the @Radford on the Lakeside. Lovely motel and very nice rooms. Have dinner at the Fat Duck (Lumina lamb dish was delicious). Breakfast and lunches at Sandfly. We also had a yummy lunch at Ditto.

Motel Owner was very helpful and accommodating. I had a great time in this motel and provide me with helpful tips to dine and attraction in Te Anau. In addition the kitchen equipment was complete and that allow us to prepare our dinner. Even the Parking is a reserved slot. I didn't know that Te Anau has so many more activities or else I would have stay longer and definitely it will be in Red Tussock Motel.

Great host, David and Irene. One of the very few motels which is at par in facilities with a 5 star hotel. The room was equipped with all essentials. Laundry was reasonable and easily accessible. Location very close to the town centre.
