I was very happy with my accommodations. They are located on the main highway. Saul, the owner, was very kind and helpful and spoke English. He and his wife took me to the border so I could buy furniture for my new house.

In my opinion, Peurto Armuelles has huge potential.

In my opinion, Peurto Armuelles has huge potential. I think for most people though they would only see the poverty as a tourist. You have to be prepared to do some exploration and find out some of the history of the area before you judge too quickly. We really loved the countryside and the beaches out of town and found some beautiful houses both close to the beach and others up the hill.

It was a small quiet town which is what we were looking for.

It was a small quiet town which is what we were looking for. Cool old houses from the era when it was a banana export town. Now trying to increase tourism.with some beach renovations. We loved walking on the beach with a mellow surf and some old wharves. Also, the upstairs deck right in the beach was an amazing place to hang out with friendly and efficient staff. We arrived at 9:15pm, and everything there closes at 9pm. We hadn't eaten and were really hungry, but luckily had friends there who fed us. A few more restaurants would be nice. Also the beach had a lot of trash, but they are supposedly in the process of cleaning it up.

Great location.

Great location. Quiet peaceful town where everyone smiles and says hello. There are no strangers here. The beaches are the softest fine black sand I have ever experienced. Several dogs about and as sweet and friendly as can be. Highly recommend for a quiet peaceful get away.
