    We stayed for a week.

    We stayed for a week. Our plan was to hike in the National park near Zakopane and to stay in Nowy Targ as it is less crowded. When arrived, we discover that there are some nice hiking trails in Nowy Targ as well so we spent some days in Zakopane and others in Nowy Targ. It is a rather quiet and peaceful place, we absolutely loved it.

    We ended up in Nowy Targ because my mom became injured and in the hospital. The host of this property went above and beyond to help accommodate us. She was truly a blessing. The apartment is beautiful, within walking distance of everything. The town turned out to be an unexpected delight. Wonderful restaurants and beautiful people. Do a hot air balloon adventure, you won’t be disappointed.

    Nowy Targ is a charming and authentic Polish town that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and culture. The town is situated at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, which offer stunning views and plenty of trails to explore. The town also has a rich cultural heritage, with historic buildings and folk festivals. The delicious cuisine is a highlight, with traditional mountain dishes available to sample and even learn to cook at cooking classes. Overall, Nowy Targ offers something for everyone, whether seeking adventure, culture, or relaxation. Buses and trains make it easy to travel anywhere, however if you planning on driving to small rural vilages it would be easier to rent a car. There are buses to Zakopane as well as trains, also there is transport for the thermal baths in Szaflary.

    From a winter perspective: great coffee, decent restaurants, two small ski slops, wonderful walks in the region BUT my dear god, the smog! When you walk down from the mountains, you can taste the city immediately. And it is not a good sort of a taste. Seriously, when will the Polish South finally do something about the air quality??

    This stay was already our tenth in Oberža pod Róža. We were last accommodated here in October 2019. We were very surprised how the hotel has grown since then. We got fantastic pizzas. Ten years ago, we met the Italian chef Luigi in the restaurant, who seems to have left a significant mark here.

    A very nice hostel which is on the second floor of a building which has a normal hotel on the ground floor. My room had 3 beds, cable TV, a towel and a socket next to each bed, as well as an electronic lock so I could check-in after reception closed. Many bathrooms at the end of the floor.
