FAQs about hotels in Cascais

Laid-back Suburban Beach Resort

Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.

King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.

Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.

Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.

Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.

This is a great place to visit.

This is a great place to visit. Not full of partygoers, just relaxed and beautiful. Three of my now retired colleagues have moved there, and as they are all very well travelled, it shows how welcoming the place is for all ages.

Beautiful seaside town can be easily reached by train from Lisbon where we spend some days. Cascais is very walkable, although we reccomand to wear comfortable walking shoes. Beaches are family friendly and can be reached easily. Regarding where to eat, Cascais has lots of restaurants but if in a budget we do reccomand to try the restaurant situated where is the big Auchan supermarket called restaurant Maria Pimenta.

Beautiful and varied town with lovely beaches, history and harbour. Lots to see and do with cute little side streets with restaurants and shops. Lots of museums to see as well as architecture and lots of places to walk but also very easy to get around in the car or bike.

The main square in Cascais was great and a good meeting point. Loads of restaurants and shops up several streets of the main square. You can bike ride, walk, taxi or drive around. The taxis were good value. Our bike ride was one of my favourite things to do as you see so much and get your bearings. The marina was great too. It is close to Lisbon with a good train service and also to Sintra.

We've been to Cascais 9 times, we love it, in the main centre there are a great selection of restaurants, and lovely wine bars, if you head up the street by burger king, there are a few streets with a fabulous selection of restaurants with outdoor dining, with a great atmosphere.

The location is excellent right on the beach while also in the centre of the town - the location is excellent. The staff was very helpful and courteous, with a nice pool and sunbathing area, and the breakfast is excellent. However, what lets the hotel down is the ensuite bathroom is tired and appears dirty. The bathroom needs refurbishment which is disappointing as this is not a cheap hotel. They provide a complimentary drink on arrival and a turn down service.

The room was perfect and the contactless check in and check out went very smooth. The room has everything you would need for a self service stay and I didn’t have any need to ask for extra services. The location is a €4 taxi away from the strip and the beaches and train station is nearby with easy travel to Lisbon. The room was also quite modern so it felt like a luxury stay for the price!

Lovely chalet right on the beachfront. Beautiful room with spectacular views, comfortable beds, good shower and good size. The staff were lovely and helpful. We were driving and it was very easy to find the hotel and drop off our luggage, and then the car park was easy to find and close to the chalet. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to visit Cascais

The best location right in the centre of Cascais and right on the beach front. We got a balcony room and enjoyed sitting out in the morning and evening watching the world go by.
