From the moment we booked, we knew we were in for something special, but we never imagined it would be this extraordinary. Even before we arrived, the hospitality had already begun. The hotel manager personally reached out to check on our arrival time, ask if we needed help planning activities, and ensure everything was perfect for our stay. That level of thoughtfulness already set the tone. Then, our flight got canceled, and we arrived much later than expected—past midnight. But despite the late hour, the staff welcomed us warmly, gave us a quick and seamless check-in, and personally escorted us to our room. And that’s when the magic truly began.     The weather/climate was just perfect.

    The weather/climate was just perfect. We went in mid September but apparently it's like that all year round. We found the restaurant and shop staff very friendly and didn't mind that we were English and couldn't speak Portuguese. Really easy to get around by taxi - Bolt and Uber were half the price of the yellow taxis. Food and drink were reasonably priced.

    Beautiful nature all around the island. Exceed expectations. Great, varied and value for money restaurants. Great public transport network and everywhere was safe to walk around. Definitely recommend all the excursions available all at very reasonable prices Lovely people. Lots to do but also ok to relax.

    Our first visit to Madeira and our 10 night stay in Funchal...

    Our first visit to Madeira and our 10 night stay in Funchal was excellent. It exceeded our high expectations. The West and East full-day bus tours of the island were excellent, as was the 3 hour trip on the Santa Maria de Colombo, a replica Christopher Columbus sailing ship. The other sights we thoroughly enjoyed included the Monte Palace via cable car, Botanical Garden, Cathedral and Bell Tower, the historic area of Funchal and slightly further away, Camara de Lobos.

    The only one real "city" on Madeira, very lovely, green, excellent choice of places for breakfast and dinner. Prices are also better than everywhere on an island. The cable car and Monte park are exceptional. You would probably spend more time travelling around the island than in Funchal itself. But transport connectivity is the best from Funchal as well, especially if you take buses

    Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable, the view from my room was okay. Private balcony. Easy check-in/out. Very friendly staff! Great view from the pool down to the harbor. The cafe was very good with good prices. Free parking on the street (with good timing). Kitchen equipped for breakfast and basic cooking. Overall a very good location for exploring Funchal on foot if you don't want to stay in the busy old town or hotel quarter, but mind that the slope of R. de Santa Luzia and R. do Pina is very steep!

    Hotel was excellent for the price we paid, offering everything we needed for our stay. Wifi did not always worked well on our room, but I was not too bothered about this. Staff were amazing, accommodating and always happy to help. Breakfast was great with a lot of options. Location was excellent, within walking distance to the old town and close to a supermarket as well (which always comes handy with children). Would definitely come back to this hotel on my next trip to Madeira.
