History and Sandy Algarve Beaches

With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.

King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors.     What a beautifully designed and mellow place. Lovely rooms, fruit trees, fine service and truly special breakfasts make this place a standout. The donkeys may wake you in the morning with their braying but the sound may make you smile, too.

    It’s a beautiful place to visit.

    It’s a beautiful place to visit. Lots of things to do from dolphin watching, boat trips, swimming on lovely beaches, visiting the town centre and good food. Lagos is kept very clean and all restaurants we visited are clean and hygienic.

    We enjoyed Lagos for 6 nights.

    We enjoyed Lagos for 6 nights. You would not need anymore time there. Even 5 days would have been enough. Travelled to Alberfeiro for a day. Well worth the trip. So many restaurants to choose from in both locations. Beautiful beach coves to explore in Lagos.

    Lagos has everything you need for a relaxing AND adventure...

    Lagos has everything you need for a relaxing AND adventure vacation. We took the MUST do boat ride to see the cliffs from the water. Oh then there were the electric bikes that took us, with a guide, up and over and down breathtaking views. On the day of our departure we put on our comfy, practical walking shoes to walk along a portion of Seven Valley Hanging Trail!

    Largos is a beautiful town with a vibe, there are lots of restaurants and bars in the central part of the city. Beaches are great and all walking distance. Lots of water activities on offer and you can use it as your base and hire a car to get out to Sagres and other gorgeous areas.

    We had a lovely stay in Lagos, the hotel stay value for money is high. I believe it is a 5 star hotel considering Algarve coast standards, and considering the price. It is however more of a 4 star hotel experience in the wider perspective. Staff is lovely and polite, facilities are beautiful, and clean. The rooms are tidied every day. The food in a restaurant was very good for the price, breakfast was was okay, but they have egg station where we got good omelette.

    It’s all about the location with these apartments, your paying for the incredible spot in Lagos right on the beach. We love Iberlagos and will be coming back time and time again because it’s super affordable and the staff are lovely. The interiors need a bit of TLC but that doesn’t bother us or effect our stay because it’s such good value for money and we spend most of our time outside in the gorgeous surrounding areas!

    Location was definitely great. And that was the reason we chose this. The walkway to Ponte de piedade is just a few meters away. So is the old town on the other side and then the marina. It's not a 4/5 star property. I think that is amply made clear in the listing. So the expectations should be accordingly adjusted. The sunrise view from the property over the ocean is to die for !

    The hotel is located opposite the marina -fantastic for going on the boat trips around Lagos. It is also walking distance to the Old Town which was wonderful. We had a beautiful view of the marina.
