One of the nicer areas I've visited in the Algarve.
One of the nicer areas I've visited in the Algarve. A few tourists about about not nearly as busy as Tavira, and as Olhao is a working fishing port, it still has that "local" feel to it. Decent esplanade adjacent to the harbour area although the only poor "rip-off" meal we had during our stay was along the front so my advice would be to go slightly inland where the quality of the food and value for money is a lot better. Nice and sunny during our stay but a bit windy so worth taking a jumper or fleece for the evenings. Best meals were at Piteu ds Baixa Mar, Taberna D'Olhao, Cafe Snack Domino and O Trevo. Olhao is a beautiful fishing town with its fabulous fish and vegetable market. The restaurants are excellent we never had a bad meal .The wine is also extremely good. We truly felt content after our recent trip to Olhão, Portugal. It was a lovely place to stay — peaceful yet well-connected to nearby towns and attractions. We rented a scooter and were able to explore the entire region comfortably, from Sagres all the way to Vila Real de Santo António.
