Stunning scenery. Great for hiking. Weather is changeable and was cooler than UK at the time we visited (April into May), so take a range of clothing in case of cooler days. Jeep trips to hiking trails are a great idea. you get to see places you wouldn't stumble upon left to your own devices. Overall a rally nice spring break in stunning surroundings. Morning coffee and cake at the little bar outside the entrance to the bigger supermarket. Exploring the upper town and climbing the winding road up the hill for great views. Sitting on a bollard in the harbour watching old men fishing, people messing about on boats, schools of fish in the deep and very clear water, even having a harbour porpoise playing near where I was sitting. Exploring the natural bathing pools at the eastern end of the promenade, swimming with schools of fish keeping you company and then sitting with a beer in the sun at the cafe nearby.Guest review byKenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We set up at 35 day European vacation. We had never heard of Madeira before this. It ended up being truly the highlight of the whole 35 days vacation. Literally every moment was exciting or truly relaxing while we were in Porto Moniz. This is to whoever may be considering Porto Moniz.
