Intertesting port town with a huge monastery on top of a hill. Loved the restaurants and it is easy to drive to other areas of Northern Portugal from there. The weather was comfortable, too. This city has a really wonderful vibe. I am a woman in my 60s and it felt very safe and inviting. I ate tapas at a restaurant on the boardwalk that were delicious. A lovely town.
A lovely town. Not huge but really with lots of old streets and a great fernicular up to the view point. Be aware that the underground car park runs the complete length of the main shopping street, from down by the waterfront all the way up to the train station. Lots of interesting places to visit around the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks staying here. It was difficult to park in town, so we took a taxi. Which was around 5 euros. The places we liked were Varzim, Ponte de Lima, Valenća - Fortaleza. The hotel at night, do some lovely meals. You can sit out on the terrace, overlooking the river.Guest review byDAVIDSpain - 10.0

The room was comfortable and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the city. The staff were incredible: made me feel so welcome and the breakfast in the morning, which was included, was excellent. Thanks Eduardo, you were very friendly! They even provided foil so I could wrap a roll with cheese and ham to take on my walk.
