We loved everything about our stay in Grand hotel Stary Smokovec. It was not our first time there, but it was the first time with our toddler and she had the absolute best time! The staff was super kind and helped us with everything we needed. They also made special arrangement regarding our room - extra bed for no fee and bathrobe and cute slippers for our little one. The hotel is simply beautiful and has great amenities - The spa and wellness is very clean, well organised and super pleasant. Children can play in huge kids room close to the bar so the parents can enjoy coffee, drinks and even food while watching their children having great time. The restaurant was awesome - tasty food and many many options for breakfast, lunch and amazing a la carte dinner. Even special request of our daughter for a glass of milk in the evening was fulfilled! The hotel staff is a team of great professionals. The fact that there is private parking right in front of the hotel and the location of this hotel being in the center of Stary Smokovec is obviously a huge +. You can choose from variety of rooms, we had a junior suite and it was very spacious and quiet with a view from one side on Lomnicky stit and from the other on the sunrise above Poprad. We will definitely come back again!

Definitely the best place during my holidays in the Slovak Tatras. Small but clean and warm rooms. Shared bathroom for 2 rooms. Beautiful view from the window. Small restaurant with delicious food and great service.

The location of the hotel is excellent, close to the main road and the electric railway station, yet in a quiet area. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. You can drink tea or espresso coffee for free at any time. The family suite is spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is well equipped. The view from the room's balcony is wonderful. The most amazing thing was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff.

Apartment is small, but it has everything you need. All restaurants are in 5-10 min by feet. So after a busy day in mountains you don't need more. Amazing views through windows - in winter, when trees has no leaves, you can see Poprad lights at night (I think it was Poprad) and mountains in the distance at the day time.

    Due to recent property developments, Smokovce are no longer the quaint, picturesque village it used to be. It got more crowded and noisier. Nevertheless, compared to Štrbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica, it is a good choice for a holiday in the High Tatras.

    Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka.

    Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka. Its clean, quiet and lovely. It is a perfect starting point for Slavskovksy Stit hike or through Hrebienok you can have Teryho Chata, Priecna veza, Zbojnicka chata trip within a day. For a post-hike refuel, i warmly suggest to have a Gazda burger in Pizza and Burger Vana. They have a several comfortable seats outside, its quick and tasty. However, dont try to buy grocery after 6, shops are closed in the evening.

    The greatest choice I've made.

    The greatest choice I've made. It's pretty small, but if you want to escape all the city buzz - it's pure perfection. Lots of greenery, the town is clean and you can easily go hiking from here.

    Good starting point for trips to Strbske pleso, Tatranska...

    Good starting point for trips to Strbske pleso, Tatranska Lomnica or Hrebienok. I like the dark beer at the tram station buffet. I always have lunch in Bistro Smokovec in the main street, it's a cafeteria style, but very good choice and delicious dishes.

    What a lovely town but be aware it is at the base of the...

    What a lovely town but be aware it is at the base of the mountains so if like me you live in a flat part of the world then after a few walks around the area your calf muscles are going to feel it haha. Actually this has helped me want to get a little fitter. Most of the shops are selling expensive Ski brands of clothing as you would expect but the Co Op food store is wonderful and you are spoiled for choice when it comes to eating out - with Spitz being our favorite. The funicular is a must, the Grand Hotel has a wellness that can be reserved and the towns train station is right on your doorstep and the trains are comfortable, clean and modern and amazingly cheap.

    I love Vysoke Tatry and Stary Smokovec.

    I love Vysoke Tatry and Stary Smokovec. You have all the needed winter attractions in one place. Slopes for beginners and pro skiers, an icerink, very good restaurants, and a place for sledding. The Tarty mountains are beautiful there. I have been there 6th time and for sure I will be back.
