My wife's home town so we go there every other year or so.
My wife's home town so we go there every other year or so. I've been to a few places in Slovakia (Bratislava, Zilina, Piestany even Kosice) and Trencin is my favorite. Its small and quaint. Its main square is very nice. I has decent restaurants and cafes (the local brewery, Lanius, is particularly nice). The city's castel is certainly worth a visit (probably the best castle I've ever been to, though the Citadel in Sistrion comes pretty close) and the hill just above town offers plenty walking opportunities (if you like hills). The is even a fairly decent bike park up there (technical but not so technical you need to wear protection). Amazed as how many people live in city but is very clean, very well look after, Plenty to see, many restaurants, cofees, pubs and castle is awesome. It is a beautiful little town with the castle above it.
It is a beautiful little town with the castle above it. It can be a great Christmas destination, however, it is important to have in mind that the Xmas market ends on Dec 23rd. We were there on a Friday evening and it was very alive with lots of young people. There was not many restaurants, but a few little coffee shops.
