Breathtaking history and two very important ancient sites, the Acropolis of Pergamon and the ruins of Asclepieion, welcome you and transport you to a time of wonder. You can savor local cuisine and shop for rugs.

Ancient Pergamon is a stunning site (most of the sculptures, especially the famous altar, are in Berlin; there is not all that much at the Archaeological Museum in Bergama). If you want to see the entire site, i.e. not just the Acropolis, walk down past the urban settlement dig with House Z, past the Agora, down to the Lower Town (not much to see there, but you get a good impression of the scale of the city). Leaving through the turnstile at the bottom of the Lower Town means you don't have to climb up to the Acropolis again (which is quite a hike). And do not miss the Aklepeion, a beautiful and very atmospheric site (there's lots to see there too, so allow enough time, certainly 1.5 hours).

Bergama is magnificent if you like ruins.

Bergama is magnificent if you like ruins. The acropolis is spectacular, and the Asclepion (healing sanctuary) well worth a visit. There's a very nice small museum, and other interesting ruins to visit.

We stayed near the old town and only used our car to access Pergamon and The Askelpion. There are lots of small restaurants within walking distance in the old town, but be warned, Bergama is a dry city. You will find it challenging to buy alcoholic beverages in stores and restaurants in city limits. Two nights was enough to spend here visiting the sites and seeing the town.

This is an interesting town with a great history to learn. The old town is walkable and easy to get around. The ruins are fascinating but not as extensive as Ephesus. It doesn’t feel like a tourist town and we didn’t ever feel ripped off in any venue

Wonderful ancient sites , lovely peaceful hotel and nearby restaurant under the Acropolis!! Local otogard ( coach station) is almost deserted so travellers need to be told about the regular transit bus service to the town/ hotels

Everything was perfect! My room was 1 of 3 in on old house in the historic part of Bergama. It was comfortable and spotlessly clean. But....thank goodness no tv or lots of cushions on the bed! A small terrace was enough outside space as there is a communal area outside of the house. Good wifi. Berat was an excellent host and willing to share information on the area. The Olive Tree is well located to drive or walk to the Acropolis of Pergammon. I was sad to leave.😭😭😭

This is a hotel in a small village in the hills. It is a 30 minute drive either to Bergama or to the beach. The rooms are basically just standalone stone buildings. The owners are a charming family that do everything they can for you to feel amazing! It is quiet and comfortable (aside from the Mosque that may wake you up early in the morning). The breakfast and the dinner in the evening (included!) are delicious and tasty!

Spent two nights here to explore Pergamon/Bergama, Great location below the hill, views of fortress walls from the patio space, short walk to the cable car to access the Acropolis, also an easy walk to explore the Asclepieion, the hotel is a terrific restoration of an old house with a 2000 year old wine cellar, I had a room with great views across the town, I was very warmly welcomed but the owner Cem, a great stay……

Good budget hotel in a good location. Could walk to many shops, restaurants and attractions. Room was a bit spartan but comfortable for a night. Nice area to relax and have a meal and drink and it had a pool which we would have liked to try but ran out of time.
